I figured out how to update my profile to 2nd degree bb and my verification is set back to zero. When I added the 1st stripe, the verification threads were maintained and the points did not change.

I'm mostly sad about losing the verifications from old training partners and team mates. It was a nice reminder of the good old days.

My understanding is each black belt stripe or belt under that starts the re-authorization process automatically. As for your training partners and anyone who verified you, they get an automatic notification and email stating who got promoted and to please look at their profile again etc.

So good news is you should get a lot of your old teammates and folks who verified you back. I also voted for ya ;)

Thanks so much! This must be a recent update to the verification for stripes. I didn't need votes for the first stripe. Just a little confusing but totally not a big deal. :)

For first stripe, you used the built-in time-served-stripe-claim through that interface. For this one, you added the information manually, as you would if you had entered the name of a new instructor.

Don't know what would happen if you deleted this last belt and switched to claiming an automatic stripe (which will go through directly with all old up votes intact, if you have the correct time since the last stripe). Might revert back to the votes from your 1:st and 0:th stripe but might also just revert to comments and votes from when you but the 2:nd stripe out for voting. Christian might know.

From where does the time-served-function calculate the time-served? Is it always from the original BB date or from last awarded BB degree, even if that degree was too early based on the usual time spans for BB degrees?

I usually don't see any problem with earlier premature degrees, once they have been mended by later belts/degrees and on colored belts, there's no time-served-degrees to be claimed in either case. But I've been very hesitant of up voting belt histories with too early dates, even if it makes no difference to the degree claimed today, since the Remco situation. He claimed a very humble no degree BB, although at a way too early date (which I don't think any one reflected on, because of him not asking to have any degrees on BB verified). But once a lot of up votes had amassed, he claimed automatic time-served-degrees based on that way too early date.
