Reading your profile, it looks like the only thing he's looking for atm is Saulo Melo's lineage. From what I can tell, Saulo Melo seems legit: comp wins, affiliate gyms, etc.

Shouldn't be that tough to find out. Who promoted Saulo? Maybe you could message him and find that out, and then you can get rid of that red downvote and be on your way.

I know Saulo’s lineage, he came up through Saulo and Xande Ribeiro (Royler Gracie, Hélio Gracie, Carlos Gracie, Mitsuyo Maeda). I just don’t have the time or motivation to complete it here, I find Johan’s dedication to being an Ahole entertaining. He is an example of black belts taking themselves too seriously trying to wield the mighty power of his downvote 😂😂😂

Your comment from your profile:

"Stay off my wall Johan, I don’t need your approval or verification. This site is a novelty at best and couldn’t care less if I get verified here, the only people’s opinions that actually matter are those who I have met face to face and rolled with."

Everyone here has a profile and those with profiles vote for others based on the content of their profiles. If you couldn't care less then why are you even here? You'd rather spend more time complaining about Johan in a thread than... making a simple edit on your profile?

Eugene - whilst Johan can certainly be accused of being dogged and nitpicky, perhaps infuriatingly so, there's also an argument to be made that there's value in what he does.

The BJJ community is increasingly filling up with grifters and fake black belts, people who'll happily promote themselves to purple belt and lie about who gave them their belt, and everything in between.
*Important note: I am NOT accusing you of any of the above.*

Having someone who is willing to be particular, and not be overly deferential about it, is quite useful in this context.

Whilst I can empathise with your frustration, I don't think there's any need for you to be calling him an "Ahole" or accusing him of being a "vindictive little child" - bit unnecessary, really.

Others in this thread have given you solid advice, and it should be pretty easy for you to quickly figure out your full lineage.

Johan has a tendency to push peoples buttons sometimes. I think his approach depends on how you react to his inquiries. I might have sometime said to him that I don't care about lineages that much, but he didn't downvote me, actually he upvoted. Since I received my black belt I added my lineages. It is actually pretty cool to see where you come from regarding your BJJ journey.

I think his missiles get locked in if you become really defensive or verbally aggressive. Some say he is like a village idiot of Belt Checker. He roams around, but is harmless...

First rule of Beltchecker forum is "Be Nice".

I deleted on of your last comments to keep within the rules.

If you cannot make your point without name calling I will lock this topic.

As for Johan, this site is literally called Beltchecker. Johan is doing what he believes the site was intended to do.

It is not a personal attack on your character. Unlike what you have posted on here.

Go ahead and lock the topic, all he has ever done is hassle me and downvote me. His approach sucks and I’m saying it as I experience it, not gonna apologize for being me, he surely is not apologizing for who he is and his approach is very far from nice You have’nt posted your lineage, DOWNVOTE, not enough photos DOWNVOTE I think your evidence is BS DOWNVOTE, don’t agree with your comment DOWNVOTE, This community is 100% subjective.

Are you equally upset when someone grabs a submission hold on you because you refused to take their subjective advice on what to spend a few seconds on to not open up for it? Calling them an a-hole in the process?

You always have the option of asking to roll for position only. Just as you, on Beltchecker, always have the option of removing one of your previous promotions (e.g. having no entry on blue belt) and you can hang here totally immune to all voting, which you've already stated you don't give a f* about. Would actually take you less time to set that up than snowflaking in this thread and I would have no reason to write on your wall or even possibility to vote on you.

Or you can just make the edit and tell me you DO care about me reviewing your profile again and reconsidering my vote and I'll treat you no differently than someone who has never called me an a-hole.

Tell the truth. As the admins can confirm from the logs, you logged in (prompted by an automated email?) after I (a year after first asking) posted a friendly reminder to add your lineage and I had not down voted you.

You went through the roof right away, deleted everything on your wall, made clear you certainly would not add any requested information and that you don't give a f* about votes or opinions of fellow members you haven't met.

I think you actually did make some additions to your profile a year ago (adding any kind of evidence with your instructor and perhaps also full name of him, I think), so an earlier down vote was removed. But "all he has ever done is hassle me and downvote me" is perhaps not the most accurate description of my life. It was months since I last spent gap time checking brown belts on the needing verification list and I placed more up votes than down votes. Also, I regularly have members thank me for prompting them to add evidence or information, which often has the result that they become verified within a day or two instead of spending further months or years in unverified state. Difference of course being they DO admit that they care about verification.

When I joined, Johan asked me for lineage, and I confirmed with my coach to make sure I got it correct and added it. I didn’t think it really matted before, but it does help to verify.

Also the more you kick off about someone checking your belt on a belt checking website the more interest it will generate into why.

Now, that being said a lot of people that join get pissed off until they understand how it works here.

Opening that post and responding to people, takes more time at the end, if you have a precise idea of your lineage, just add it, so it would be the end of this little drama... i vote for you, you show enough evidences for me with promotions pictures for each rank.
That's the purpose of this experience, everyone has his own standart.

All good opinions, thanks. The voting system is flawed. If I have to provide evidence to get someone’s upvote, People should provide evidence for their downvote. Downvoting is a punishment based on someone’s opinion or disorder instead of evidence. If a person has not ticked some box or has said something that someone doesn’t like, does it mean they’re lying about their rank? Does it deserve a downvote. It’s all positioned to make SJWs with OCD excel at what annoy people.

I would argue, along the lines of Karl Popper, that it would be more flawed to move the burden of proof to the voter as e.g. claims of totally made up lineages are generally not falsifiable. To make an anology, can you falsify the claim that there are pink swans?

You can falsify in the other direction though, by providing evidence and a lineage that can be verified through reliable public sources. Just like you can falsify a claim that there are no pink swans by presenting one.

I'm actually not looking for reasons to downvote. I'm using all you provide (and often more) to falsify the hypothesis that your claims are false. Many don't realize that someone voting based on principles of scientific method and logical scepticism is really on YOUR side in that sense.

Yet others up vote everything that moves, so put a second degree BB on some random bloke off the street and take some good evidence pictures of getting the BB from him along with a lineage putting the random bloke directly under someone legit but dead (not Carlson, who actually made a list before he died to prevent that kind of claims) and you are pretty much guaranteed to have your claims verified on Beltchecker, if you can live with just one or two downvotes from "terrible" people like me. Much cheaper than the Moneyberg option actually and with wider recognition in the BJJ community.

I'm reallly not saying that's the case with you. I even have a quite good idea what your lineage might be (although I haven't really gone into checking it). But I maintain that the burden of proof is on you. Where you stating your claimed lineage is the very least to expect.

Clearly this is not the case.
As you were bothered by his post, and keep posting here.
If all he asked for was your instructor's lineage, that seems a very basic request for a promotion verification profile request.
And, yes, by posting your profile here, YOU made a request for review.
A black belt reviewer asking a requestor to fill out their instructor's lineage is an eminently reasonable request.
You may have responded exuberantly to that request, unnecessarily.
Given that fact, it is clear that you care.
So, denying that, serves no purpose, and is like saying one did not fart, when one did.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "Always fart proudly".
And, I might add, "never trust a fart".
Two seemingly conflicting truths, which when synthesized masterfully, result in the discovery of a greater truth, and progress upon the path of enlightenment.

"If Johan did not exist it would be necessary to invent him." (Some French guy or smth)
Johan was guaranteed mathematically to exist, and given enough trials, it is expected that he will exist again.

With the obvious paradox being, that given enough trials, it is also expected that there will be infinite outcomes, and infinite sets of outcomes, where Johan does not exist, but they will be expected to be smaller infinite outcomes, and smaller infinite sets of infinite outcomes, then when he not only exists, but exists more than once.

And this is why, a really hot cup of tea, or a really good cup of iced tea, is generally a good idea, because there is a good chance that we are all really not alive, even if we also might be, or are alive.

In any case, if you have seen Tatu, please tell him that he both does, and does not, owe me $20.

Real money. Swiss Francs. Not that made up USD, Euro, Pound, Canadian looney, or any of those Asian crap currencies.

Gold, common firearm ammunition, dark beer, and home made ethyl alcohol strong enough to degrease engines, with the methyl alcohol drained off, also accepted.

Because those made up currencies seemed to be based off of illusion more than the idea of free will, or the lack of it.

Much like rank belts meaning anything other than a grateful and fond remembrance of our teachers who promoted us.

And a recognition that those who come after us, that we promote, are our own hopes for exceeding our own contributions and progress.
