Nogi personally. I wrestled in high school and wanted something like that to get back in shape with. Blackflag does Catch Wrestling, Nogi, and Gi. I dont gi yet.

I found them because of the catch aspect.

Have been trying to become proficient in the leg game used by the DDS, so no-gi these days.

Gi almost 90% for my personal training, but that is mostly due to our academy's schedule and how it fits to mine. I teach beginners twice a week NoGi though, but seldom get reasonable sparring in during those classes. I prefer guards that can be used in both, such as X/SLX/deep half. Always happy to take off the jacket is somebody asks for it, or for some rounds at open mats, but my NoGi game is definitely behind my Gi stuff.

I have a gap in my knowledge regarding the modern heelhook-centric leglock exchanges, something I plan to fix a bit this year...

I personally prefer gi, but lately no-go has allowed me to train more while I've been nursing a shoulder injury.

I honestly must say that I like both, however am behind on the leglock meta and want to correct that come May.

For me personally, I love the gi but I feel I do better in Nogi. Despite spending more time in the gi coming up through the ranks, I've always don't better in Nogi competitions.

Not a bad thing to become proficient at.

Gi for me! Mainly because I train more in the gi, and have recently become slightly obsessed with squid- and worm-guard... Really happy that I always get some no-gi in every week as well though!

"Yes" would be my answer to that question. lol

These days I'm doing more nogi than gi. A couple years ago I came to realize that I was too reliant on the gi for certain things. I wanted to make sure my game didn't fall apart if my training partner and I took our gi tops off.

The funny thing is that when I do gi now, I tend to use nogi grips.

I think they compliment each other.

I run more gi classes than no gi but if I am going to be honest I enjoy no gi more.

I like No Gi more, less Gear need to bring to Workplace, less laundry :) Still enjoy Gi game, but if I have to choose, No Gi all the way

I never even considered the laundry thing. Another good reason to do no gi! :-)

I prefer nogi to gi. I just like it more. I think its important to train both however, because they mirror each other. they are yin and yang. its easier to control people with the gi, because you have grips and it also gives you more submission options but it forces you to do escapes 100% correctly or you don't get out. whereas nogi tends to be faster paced and easier to escape positions, but it forces you to do submissions 100% correctly or you don't get them. even tho nogi is faster paced I find myself getting tired quicker with the gi. probably all the pulling. I only trained nogi for awhile during purple belt, it was one of the reasons I stayed purple for so long.

That's my logic too, as a white belt it seems really inefficient to learn different techniques for both. The wrist, fingers, neck and feet will always be there - the Gi won't be. At the moment I do compete in both, i actually have a pretty similar win rate in both, despite the fact that i don't really use the Gi. I may eventually have to specialise and maybe my luck runs out as my future competitors get better at using the Gi, but that's a problem for future Alex

The Gi, absolutely. No Gi is fine, but I find all the slippery scrambling to be boring. I like all the technical options the gi provides...that being said, I'll roll with whatever's happening on the mat that day, haha.

both

but if i had to choose then gi because you can do more shit in gi cause of the gi lol. and you still can do the nogi stuff too...

but that only counts if we are talking about pure submission rolling no points n shit, if we are talkig about competitions ibjjf adcc ebi and all that then of course i would prefer nogi...

still waiting for a Gi sub only no points no time movement to happen tho, cause that would probably be my all time favourite competition thingy

Y'all gotta admit that at least the stand-up game is way more fun with the gi.. You have all the wrestling plus all the judo stuff too!

Trained in the gi TONS up until brow then slowly started to shift towards more NoGi. My hands have thanked me since I made the shift haha. To be honest I just enjoy NoGi more so I've done that and when I opened my school it just worked out that we are NoGi focused with supplementary gi classes.

Both are great, I just prefer taking off the bath robe. I will say this though NOTHING LOOKS COOLER THAN HAVING A BADASS GI ON WITH A BLACK BELT! hahaha
