Side project: AI that answers BJJ questions from a structured technique graph

Hey everyone,
I've been training BJJ for a while and also work in software, so I built a little side project for myself that I thought some of you might find useful or interesting.
It's a BJJ knowledge graph — basically a database of positions, submissions, sweeps, passes, escapes and transitions, all connected to each other. On top of that I hooked up an AI that can answer questions by actually querying the graph, rather than just making stuff up.
So instead of asking ChatGPT "what can I attack from closed guard?" and getting generic answers, this one queries a structured graph of real BJJ relationships and gives you answers based on that data. You can also use a path finder that shows you the shortest route between any two positions (e.g. turtle to mount).
It's completely free, not commercial, I built it for myself and figured I'd share it. It's still rough around the edges and the graph doesn't cover everything yet — I'm adding to it as I go.

Would love to hear if anything is wrong or missing from a technique standpoint — you guys know the details better than I do.

I tried to ask it "what can I attack from closed guard?" and it showed me a video on how to do an armbar from mount 😬

It’s the first ticket on my backlog 😂
Thanks for the feedback, will work on it

More feedback: Ran the same prompt through Opus 4.8 and got an output that was basically indistinguishable from your app's.

Interesting, I'm adding a graph database of techniques/transitions/setups/etc so any prompt *theoretically* would have more info. I'm of course expanding this dataset.
My assumption is that the more info it has, more different from a generic prompt it will be. Thanks!

Hey folks, quick update on the BJJ app I shared a while back!
I reworked how the app finds answers to your questions. Before, it was trying to translate your question into a database query, which was fragile and often missed the mark. Now it's much better at understanding what you're actually asking and finding the most relevant techniques and positions.
It also has richer context now — it understands relationships in both directions, so if you ask about a technique, it knows not just what it leads to, but also where it comes from and who's known for using it.
In short: answers should be more accurate and complete. Still expanding the knowledge base daily too. Give it another try! https://bjj-world-product[...]ilway.app/

Same standard prompt on attacks from guard gives me this video

Thanks for the feedback, I think I've addressed most of them, but I also think I've created other issues 🤣
There's a proper URL now, which you can actually login and set your game like belt, guard, submission etc.
The AI response is much more tailored to the user now (or at least it *should* be)
https://tapcodex.app/
Again, appreciate the feedback
