My take on the journey, summarized in a poster with illustrations. This is what I wrote to my students:
White to purple should focus on the mode of the current belt but half way through should also start to understand and develop enough in the mode of the next belt to be prepared and grow into having that as a new main focus.
Belts are about more than who you can tap in relation to your physical capabilities and even if you excell in the mode of your current belt (sometimes more so than most already at the next belt) that doesn't automatically equate to be ready for and having matured into the next belt (although, of course, more than just the modes matters).
So enjoy the journey and I'm convinced the insights it offers will be with you not only on the mat but in the rest of your life as well!
