My total BJJ training time (Gi and No-Gi) is a little over 4 years, with a pretty long break in between. I trained from 2013 to 2015, then picked it up again in 2024.

Before that, I also trained submission grappling for over a year, back in 2009/2010, when BJJ gyms were still few and far between in the Netherlands.

I've also competed during all three periods, with competition results and supporting evidence documented on my BeltChecker profile.

So here's my question: should I include that first year of grappling in my total training time, bringing it to 5+ years, or leave it at 4+ years of BJJ?

I'm not trying to inflate my experience. I just want my BeltChecker profile to accurately reflect my actual time on the mats.

Curious what you guys think!

Up to you. I personally wouldn't put a 9 year break on my history but the question Beltchecker asks is the day you put on a white belt, so it would still be accurate if you included it.

Your profile looks fine to me how it is. The notes are accurate and time frames look normal.
