One of our black belts is a retired vet who lives on a rural property down the road from me, and he has been interviewed on T.V. regarding the Florida bigfoot, which I can't recall whether or not it has a special name. I just call the idea / discussion 'Florida bigfoot'. He is always out looking for it's prey leave behinds, and excrement, and tracks, etc. My bet has always been, if this phenomenon actually exists here in Florida, it is because from time to time, Florida residents who get baby apes as pets let their pet chimps or other large pet apes go into the swamps and brush when those pets, go into their puberty years or older, and become more difficult to manage. Or some medical test apes or zoo apes escaped during some hurricane or other, much like the non-native pythons, and have found the Florida swamps, and brush, and everglades an environment they can live in.
