Ps. If you want to avoid the like 4 like policy, for example we could just keep the upvote anonymous(for the community, not for moderators) , so none knows who upvoted him, and he could not give him a feedback just for sympathy. Downvotes should be kept not-anonymous because the disputed person should always have the possibility to defend himself. Just an idea
Then we also need to remove the messages and wall functions so people can’t communicate and tell each other they’ve voted. And we need to make sure they’re blocked on Facebook first before they can vote for each other :D
No sorry, no anonymous votes.

I would like the ability to REMOVE upvotes given to me by strangers. If we've never met or had any interaction whatsoever, I honestly don't care for your upvote. I think that would make for a more honest representation. DOWNVOTES would still stand, of course (I don't have any, but still). Unless the community agrees with a majority decision, or something.
But that wouldn’t solve anything other than your own verification vanity. It wouldn’t make any difference in terms of those who are willing to receive “votes for votes”.
I honestly think this is more a case of “attention to my profile for attention to your profile”. Unless you show me some examples of badly documented profiles who gave and received a lot of votes (don’t say the fake black belt, he didn’t vote for anyone really and just got a handful). I’ve only spotted a few votes like that myself and I commented on them with my opinion, which I think is the right way forward.
At the end of the day, it still comes down to the same thing we’ve debated for two seasons now: Do we vote to verify skill level or to verify data. The community has decided it’s the latter and one can disagree with that all they want, but nobody has the power to decide that it should be wrong.

I don't disagree that it's voting on data or that the votes should be transparent - I feel seeing each justification is important for transparency and trust. I also don't think any change to the system is warranted, but potentially a change in how members consider their own voting practices. I think our season 3 discussion should be framed more as: what kind of data and how much justifies a vote? How possible does it seem that someone could have a faked profile based on the information you're using to vote?
This discussion itself is an act of community interaction with some chance of modifying behaviors organically.

You could always just contact the strangers who voted for you and ask them to kindly remove their vote. I'm sure most would happily do so.

The "like for like" vote is troubling. When I finally got verified, I actually felt like I had a duty to go and help others get verified as quite a few complete strangers had verified me. So I'd click on profiles that needed verification, check their social media etc then cast a vote helping them get verified. Felt weird so I stopped after a while but my point is that I almost felt compelled to vote for people I did not know as strangers had voted for me.
Not sure how we can counter this though as most don't know each other here (apart from you globetrotters). In my profile, there's only a couple who really know who I am, but then again, there are only 15 people from Montreal registered on this site. Tough problem.

I regularly point out that psychology is a pseudo-science, not a science, and it's practitioner's artists, not scientists. However, there have been attempts at what we now call psychology that are at least as old as language. So, I feel inclined to ask, when we hear someone, or a group of people, railing so passionately that someone outside their clique is not good enough, I always wonder, are they really giving voice, to that voice inside their own head, whispering to them, that old demon, saying in the ancient tongue, 'You are not good enough, you are not good enough, you will never be good enough'. And that is not a demon I have any interest in feeding. Out of all the demons that fly through the night sky, I have never found much use, or fruit, from that particular eldritch lilin. A petty little spirit, that can only feed on those that choose to feed it.
Not taking the bait :D
