A couple of the BJJ matches I`ve done was way harder than some of the real fights I have been in. So I disagree on that :-)
I'm with you. I have no problem in calling them fights.

Wrist locking white belts is completely fine.

OSS is cringey, unless said in jest.

I don't care if another upper belt offers further explanation on a technique while I'm teaching a class. We're all there to learn together.

Everyone has an ego in jiu jitsu. The "no ego" thing is horseshit.

1. There's no ego in jiu-jitsu at the high level
2. Jiu-jitsu is for everyone
3. Because someone is a good competitor means they are a good coach
4. (Although decreasing) white belts and even blue belts shouldn't learn leg locks
5. "Sport" jiu-jitsu wouldn't help you in a street fight

There's many

I have to disagree with not teaching white and blue belts leg locks. It's antiquated thinking. They are no more dangerous than armbars or shoulder locks. Teach them correctly, stress safety and control. The "legality" of a technique under a certain rule set means f**k all to me. I teach morote gari in my judo classes, and I'll teach leg and wrist locks to anyone. Again, just my opinion.

If you're a blue belt then you're automatically Intermediate NoGi at NAGA which allows heel hooks. Whilst Grappling Industries holds off on the heel hooks, after 1 year of experience you are Intermediate NoGi which allows knee reaps and everything but Heel Hooks. So any club that won't teach leg locks to white belts is either confining their students to the IBJJF rules or going to have a lot of quick and painful defeats when their students compete.

If you're bigger than me, I'm probably not going to roll with you. Also won't roll with you if I don't know you. Or if I just watched you roll and you were super intense. Or somebody just pulled out a d20 and wants to play some DnD instead. :P

Organized and extensive warm-ups / stretches at the beginning of class are stupid. Let's do some jiu-jitsu!

3-4-5 i disagree with. 3-Some guys cannot train in a fluent manner how to execute in steps If the didn't have opportunities.(this goes for any sport even tactical type training) fact. 4- white belts should be taught everything( maturity counts) do not hold a student back because you want to think. Because as most good parents taught their kids, “thought Shat in his pants” Over thinkers f things up and In a tactical environment usually get killed. 5-last but not least...-Of course sports jiu jitsu can help you in a fight. Any advantage helps you in a fight. Something simple. “SAND” its an option. And mostly , because....i say so

Amen to this. I do 2-3 trainings a week at this point and enjoy the hell out of it + improve :)
Me too Christian, I enjoy every time I get to train.

1. Size and strength actually do matter.

2. slamming should be allowed if jumping guard is allowed

3. MMA favors striking arts in their rulesets

4. White belts should be learning leg locks so we're not ambushed or surprised when we're caught in one

5. bicep and calf slicers being reserved for brown belt and above is arbitrary and honestly feels kind of dumb to me.

5. Just stop doing IBJJF competitions and you won't have this problem. You can do bicep and calf slicers in NAGA at beginner NoGi and blue belt at Grappling Industries.

The BJJ academy is NOT the place to talk about politics! The things are getting insane.
That's an unpopular opinion? There are few things I want to talk about less at BJJ!

- You shouldn’t stop rolling if you get close to a wall - chewing gum while rolling is great for breathing and relaxing
If it's padded it's legal. Sometimes walking up a wall is the only way I can get out lol
