These were my main belts from white to brown. I usually keep more than one around just in case. That's my original blue belt that I only wore a few times. Had a few more that I gave to friends and family as they got to blue.

This has partially become the "belt display" thread, so... Gonna surprise my son with this when he gets promoted to grey-and-white belt in a week or two:

I don't have old belts but I do have a belt display case that I'm quite proud of (Ikea Kasseby box). I wear an A2 belt normally. The white belt in it is the A4 I bought for when I was pregnant.
Now that's a really nice showcase you got there!

Here are my old belts and still trying to figure out what to do with them. This thread gives me ideas for sure.

I really only have my white (not my first white belt) brown and black belts now. My blue belt got destroyed when one of my students and I tied it over a beam to hold a heavy bag in place. When we had to take the bag down because we were going to finish my basement my blue belt would not untie no matter what we did. So we had to cut it to get it down. Pissed me off. My purple went around the waist of my very good friend and former training partnerWill Terado (now with Pacific Top Team) when he got promoted to purple back in 2005. I never got it back from him as it would be in poor taste to ask for it back. I ended up buying a purple and blue so I could eventually have a display case. I had two browns because I always liked to have one for home training. The black belts are some I used over the years.

The green belt is my oldest sons belt

I gave all my past belts to other students when they were promoted to the respective belt. In my view, this created some kind of bond with the rest of the team. Luckly, I took pictures and competed in every belt division I passed by.
It is a great tradition in my opinion.

I don't see seem to get attached to my belts, like at all... have hard time imagining keeping my old ones. Some have been nicer than others but it's been only for the functionality or the look. I even wash mine for chrissakes! :D (Maybe that's why I'm not any better.) I have had more affinity towards some gis, and been sad when they've finally broken enough so I had to retire them.

Perhaps things will be different if I ever get a black black belt & manage to not lose it for 3+ years. :)

Also those custom displays are pretty awesome!

That made me think of the story by Renzo about the time his black belt was stolen.

You can really tell who doesn’t wash their belts here. After 7 years my white belt is still white, but the seams did fail and the belt split down the middle.
