Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield

This is on the current Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps reading list, as it has been for many of his predecessors. The Commandant is a Recon Man with his Dive bubble and wings, one would expect no less.

This book has inspired several of the authors of some of the books listed here, written by noted "Navy SEALS"

I go back to it every so often.

I found Extreme Ownership really interesting and prompted me to take a look at my own habits and motivations
While I liked some general principles and how they were put, I also think if the Oxford Dictionary had the word "HUMBLEBRAG" then the pic of that book / Jocko could be there.

"I am the quiet servant, trying to improve...

...also check out my best business cosultation firm that has helped hundreds of great leaders thrive..."

"Navy Seals are the quietest and most humble simple soldiers...

...also the best and toughest warriors in the world..."

Sounds like a good story to be told over a beer or two. :-)
If I ever get my shit together I'm actually considering writing a book titled "You Do Not Talk About Fight Club"

It'd be a mix of personal growth story, martial arts, self help and performance psychology (for lack of better term) and well ... an interpretation of Fight Club.

No guarantees it'll ever happen though ;)

I like his version of the story too.
