Before Covid Professor Megaton would come down for a seminar twice a year. We seen a lot of promotions happen when he would be here for seminar. We had some in between but I think our coach (Jack McVicker) liked doing the promotions while megaton was here to make it feel more special. Now it’s all a surprise. We do get to throw the person if present the night of the promotion.

I was promoted to black belt recently and I had no idea I was going to be promoted. For promotion day everyone had to be there and no one really knew who was going to be promoted. It was like a special training session where the instructor kept asking people about techniques, as if he was testing everyone in general, and then we rolled. After all that he took out a black belt out of his jacket and tied it on me. I confess I was kind of hoping to get promoted but I didn't really care. Then he took my brown belt and gave it to someone else and so on, but at the end of the day everyone took their old belts home. Who would want to wear my old belt anyway? We did the gauntlet and then we had a nice barbecue, which was awesome. It was a great day overall. https://youtu.be/GRAG-e38yF4
