Resolving my herniated cervical disks. I train a lot and my partners are very forgiving of my neck issues. I'd like to be able to train better without babying my neck so much, we'll see. I'd also like to get down to 180lbs, currently at 190. Very hard to stay at 180 for me, body just really likes that 190 feel.
Do you do any neck traction.

I do. I have a fancy traction device I bought that's helped a great deal. That plus stretching has helped enormously. I've had to drill less and roll more also. Talking with a purple belt friend of mine with a similar problem we both realized drilling things that affect the neck does way more damage than actually rolling. Drills I can't really resist, it's just repetitive tweaking of the affected area. Rolling I can defend and if caught I just tap and move on. I feel like a crappy drilling partner sometimes but my neck just can't handle an hour of triangles or Ezekiel's like others. I've also focused a lot on my posture and the muscles in my upper back. Athlean-X on YouTube has a ton of content on 'Face Pulls' for the upper back which has been super helpful for dealing with an under developed part of my body. I also picked up an Iron Neck which is having a noticeable effect on my neck. I'm in a much better place than I was but it's never going to be great. My doctor said I had the neck of a 70 year old and I'm only 44 :(
I know I live it. 2 in my neck. I do traction at least once a day, sometimes twice a day. It keeps me on the mat

What's your jiu-jitsu resolution for this year for you and your school if you're a coach?
I'm a 47 year old BJJ brown belt and my New Year resolution was that I need to improve my fitness.
Last week I joined the local gym and hired a fitness coach so that I can get my body better prepared for BJJ and to minimize the risks of injury.

To stop doing BJJ illegally in the basement, even though I get a thrill out of knowing that the cops could fine me $6000 for exercising. Naw, I'll never stop, who am I kidding.

You can't exercise even at your own basement? Presuming you meant your basement.
Gyms in my city had to lock down for one day because of some bullshit. It got quickly shot down and gyms are doing fine again.

Club: I want to split my class into a beginners group and an advanced group, so I can give both groups what they need to further their development. The goal is always to make my students better than I am one day.
Personal: I haven't really processed that yet, I didn't expect to be promoted at the beginning of this year and that definitely changed the focus. It's not that I was chasing a belt, but it was definitely a motivator that pushed me to overcome excuses whenever I wanted to slack off.
I think for now the goal is to be a better version of me by the end of the year. Better teacher, more technical, fitter, healthier and try stay injury free.
The older you get the more it is about consistency and staying on the mats as long as possible.

I also battle with my neck, I go to the chiro at least every second week to adjust and realign.

Compete a few times, get back to the weight room a couple times a week, become a better teacher.

Same as every year: roll more. And be less fat. Since I hit 40 last year, that flab is much harder to shift. ;)

It is literally illegal for adults to practice BJJ in gyms where I live currently, so I sneak into the gym and practice in the basement. I've even heard rumors that cops do this as well.
