Also a bit anoying that they still count in and therefore screw up some statistics, such as the list of how many is on each belt and degree, where there is still a "10:th level BB" troll visible.

Most statistics only count verified profiles when it makes sense, so they do not mess that up.

I'd prefer Verified users by belt rank over Registered users by belt rank though on the statistics start page.

Downvoters of Beltchecker: Can someone be too famous for you to downvote their profile if it’s clearly incorrect? In the case of Remco Pardoel, I am getting shamed for my downvote and I also seem to be the only one pointing out that the promotion history is obviously incomplete and the profile is displaying the wrong rank.

IMO beltchecker is supposed to be verifying data, not protecting emotions 🤷🏼‍♂️ Please debate if you disagree.

I do. I was just curious why I was the only one who did, in this specific case 😄

Ok, I'm just going to address the elephant in the room here... JOHAN WHERE THE F ARE YOU

I feel like that scene in Batman where they send out the bat signal but Batman is not coming because he doesn't want to be Batman any more and people are all like "He abandoned us. We are on our own now." and criminals roam freely and burn down Gotham City.

Is this what you want, Johan? Is it?

I think my answer is yes. I think if a person is obviously a black belt, I don’t care whether or not they claim their degrees. Obviously, it’s a different story if they claim degrees they haven’t earned yet. I did; however, nicely encourage him to finish his profile. Someone else also pointed out the missing degrees. We just did it with upvotes.

Should someone be allowed to demote themself to a lesser BB degree on beltchecker? I'd basically be ok with both that and a quick re-promotion if they change their mind. And are consistent on all platforms.

But what happens if someone else claims to be promoted to BB by them, if they themself claim to have less than second degree? Or if they even confirm the BB promotion? Should the person promoted by them be disputed, the promoting person with the sandbagging BB grade or both?

We can not rule out people eligible for really high BB grades feeling an urge to troll every now and then or just feeling anarchistic about the whole belt system. So we might have to deal.with that too. How accomodating is it then possible to be out of respect.for a well.known practitioner if they challenge the belt system which Beltchecker is based on? If Royce Gracie wanted to be verified as a blue belt? What should be our position on Ricksons coral or red belt?

"Dear Helio, I'm here to dispute your rank. You're clearly not a blue belt. This notice will automatically disappear once you update your promotion history. -175pts Kind regards Christian"

I don't think he'll care. And rightly so.

' Helio is 100% legit. Could update his blue belt to red belt though. +20pts Matt'
I’m really starting to like this Pete character.

We all come into this site with our own perspectives I think it's what is unique about the site. You get a pulse for how other practitioners and teachers feel about things.

I received a Black belt from someone and represent his lineage and honestly as long as I uphold his criteria I really don't care what others do. We are just confirming a rank based on if we believe the person actually did receive rank from that person.

I for one love this idea as others must as we have some truly legendary people on here.

AS to disputing someone that is by the face of who they are an automatic verification I do not find in disrespectful at all as long as you state why the dispute. We can all post a couple pics

The question can also be how much does the degrees on the blackbelt matter if they are time based?

Remco Beeing a 6th degree blackbelt based on his blackbelt promotion date.

Does it make someone more credible with stripes you can apply yourself?

Not choosing any sides here as a Remco student myself ;)

In his case I think it's more a lack of interest of updating his page haha

I see he does have stripes on his belt, so you’re probably right. 😉
