Time in rank, between black belt degrees...

Hi,
I will recieve my 3rd degree on my black belt from my instructor, this Thursday november 10th.
That will mark exactly 9 years as black belt, having recieved my black belt on the same date, back in 2013.
But I noticed that I've held my previous rank of second degree a few months less than the standard 3 years.
My instructor only counts from the date of the initial black belt promotion.
Note that I held both my regular black belt and 1st degree longer dan 3 years.
So my question is. If I update my rank to 3rd degree directly after my promotion, will that cause a glitch and subsequent profile collapse? Or should I wait to update my rank until it's been exactly 3 years after my promotion to 2nd degree?

Mark it as "time served" otherwise you'll lose all the votes :D
I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting reverified though.
Also I hope you've gone through all the IBJJF hoops because now you are TRULY free to e.g. help out other friends who might need to help some of their students jump through IBJJF hoops. ;)

Beltchecker counts the time from your black belt promotion, not between the degrees. So you qualify here for the third degree exactly nine years after you got your black belt, regardless of the dates of your first and second degrees :)

So if I apply for "time served" for my first stripe, will it reset my verifications to 0?

Yes, verification points will reset no matter if it's 1:st stripe by time served or from a named instructor (with or without tag in the promotion history). And your own votes will temporarily not count on others' profiles, until you get verified again (then they will count with your new number of points).
However, those who have previously voted for you will receive a notification that you need to be reconfirmed with your new degree, which should speed up the process of getting reverified significantly.

This is incorrect, sorry. "Time served" black belt degrees does NOT reset the verification points. This is of course because the only thing that needs to be verified is the number of years and beltchecker can do that as well as humans can 🙂

Missed that you can set "Promotion type" to either "I was promoted by someone" or "I accept automatic promotion by timed served as black belt".
It also says something like
You qualify for this promotion, based on your time served as black belt
Black belt held for: 8 year(s) 10 month(s) 13 day(s)
Minimum time required: 6 years
Earliest possible promotion date: September 6, 2020
Still, some try to claim the degrees faster, but I guess that would then only be a technically possible claim through "I was promoted by someone". Then hopefully quickly downvoted by the community :-)
