Hello My name is Jeremiah Talley I have had along and wonderful Journey in Brazilian Jiujitsu. I no longer want to be dependent on the Professors who promoted me to black belt and first degree so I am joining so I can have my degrees verified and be able to do my own thing as Academy Owner. I’ve had my own school for a year and a half and don’t want to pay to join any affiliation. I
Trained as a white belt under Jason Bircher in Kansas City , MO before he had an official school and we trained at the police academy.
I moved to Denver and trained At Easton Brazilian Jiujitsu and received my blue belt from Larry King and My purple belt under Elliot Marshall.
I wish I would have stayed and received my black belt from Elliot But had a falling out and left the academy.
I went on to manage and be head Instructor at Kompound training Centers in Denver and received my brown belt from Brad Nico Larson. I left kompound later. As A brown belt I taught at 3 different schools before receiving my Black belt From Prof. Joe Soliz of Texas 3rd coast Mma in houston Texas and And received my first degree from him at my academy in Spring Texas.
All of my photo and training history is on face book and can be easily verified.
I competed in Ibjjf as a blue belt under eastons a purple belt under eastons and kompound Training centers. As a brown belt under kompound and later dark horse Jiujitsu. I haven’t competed as black belt in ibjjf. I Have matches on flo Grappling confirming that.
I just want to make sure the world can verify my black belt and first degree so I can continue to level up and get stripes as the date and time comes. So I can give my own black belts when that day comes in the future. I’ve fought mma , competed for fight to win. And done numerous competitions.
Jiujitsu and Martial Arts are my life and I want to be free to do things my own way and have no outside influence on the way I do things. Nor do I care to pay for some seminar or affiliation to receive my next degree unless absolutely necessary. Please check me and and confirm I am who I say I am and Received all of my belts from those I said I did. Thank you

Your lineage was a quite difficult one to google, although with very merited black belts.

Is this correct? Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie > Helio Gracie > Rolls Gracie > Romero Cavalcanti > Roberto Traven > Eric Williams > Joe Soliz

I would advice you to add the lineage to your profile, for easier verification.

I listed the direct Professors I received each belt from.
Not the Lineage thru time
Each of my professors is legit and Ibjjf Certified.
I was certified in ibjjf as both a purple and brown belt you can go into flo grappling and see matches at brown belt I did in ibjjf.

But you must know the lineage of the instructor who gave you your black belt? I think that's the most important one to verify before I upvote someone, even if you're no longer with that instructor (i.e. knowing and showing that lineage doesn't have to do with current associations or politics, it's just part of what shows a legit promotion).

No sir
I Don’t know Professor Joes lineage
Not Do I know Brad Nico Larson or Rafael lovatos lineage , I don’t know Eliot MarshAlls Lineage.
Joe received his black belt from a Brazilian and him and that Brazilian were Ibjjf certified. Each Professor I received a promotion from was Ibjjf certified and I don’t know their lineage.
All my promotions are all documented with photos, dates, times and certificates in some instances.
A “lineage “ has not been my care or concern.
You can come and roll with me, you can easily Google my name and see mma fights and history of competition at each belt.
Easily see all the places I trained at taught at and their “lineage.”
I told you my lineage not the Historical lineage of each instructor I’m not a historian I’m a martial artist.

Welcome to the site!

When I dragged my coaches on here, even though they are legit dudes, I told them to make sure upload pictures of their time-line through their bjj career and upload their lineages. This vital for a lot of people to vote and examine your profile.

I get that you disregard the lineages, but it is important to know where you come from.

Upload your comp record and upload your promotion photos if you have them. If you have any random photos of you training then upload those to the gallery.

Your profile page is a little barren.

Again, welcome!

Joe received his black belt from a Brazilian and him and that Brazilian were Ibjjf certified.
In this interview, Joe claims not to have gotten his BB from a Brazilian but from Eric Williams.

https://www.tsn.ca/joe-so[...]-1.1444786

He allegedly did some controversial scoring at UFC247 to the favour of a fighter who had Eric in his corner, so there's quite a lot of google hits on that.

Joe doesn't show up in IBJJF:s online BB registry (but can of course still be legit, but doesn't seem to be correct that he was promoted by a Brazilian).

Knowing the lineage of at least the instructor who gave you your BB is like knowing the name of the university where you got a diploma. Sure, some people might be ok with "I got my master's degree from professor Joe", but I really think you should be able to answer if someone wonders what university professor Joe was part of. It's not that old a sport, so not that much history, but I'm glad you're checking up the lineage so you can pass the info on to your own students!

Soliz judged bout coached by former trainer at UFC 247 - TSN.ca

Joe Soliz, who drew the ire of fans and analysts for his scoring of multiple bouts, has a connection to the gym of one of the fighters he controversially ruled in favour of at UFC 247, Aaron Bronsteter writes.

So, if lineage means nothing then why have schools at all? What is the whole point of any form of standard, grades, or rank structure? Lineage is not the be-all-end-all of verification, but to say it means nothing is a bit asinine. Vote however you wish, brotha. I do not think Johan or I was trying to persuade you or anyone else to vote a certain way.

By the way, I am not seeing the promotion pictures. I do not see his instructor actually putting that belt around his waist for the other grades. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule of documentation. My cousin was promoted throughout his colored belts by Alan Shebaro while he was stationed at Ft. Bragg. However, I did not see any comments about "remote" promotions so I would assume he would have photos of his instructors tying that belt around his waist.

I have "posing" pictures of Royler, Leite, Buchecha, and few others when I was part of their affiliations. Does not mean they promoted me to that "posed" in picture rank.

I just want to note that my response to you is not meant to start a debate. Simply a discussion. So, please, do not take it in a wrong way. Nothing but respect.

My Last Professor that I trained under everyday and where I wasn’t just a ronin working with or under people in order to get promotion and legitimize my belt was Eliot marshal he got his black belt from Amal Easton Who got his black belt from Renzo Gracie after
I left Eastons
I have been a head instructor and having to have marriages of convenience to get promoted and work towards doing my own thing. Still goes on to this day. Have the community look at my history and verify it because I don’t want to affiliate with anyone else to get yet another stripe …
On this comment Will put up the last person who was my last real Professor.
Since then it’s been
I work at whichever gym and do what I need.

When i say it means nothing, it's because i saw people from prestigious academies or team, buying their belt for exemple, we had a good exemple on a trade here : the guy never get any color belt legit, but receive his Black belt by someone legit after he probably lie to him about his journey.....so he can give the lineage of the guy who give him his bb but in the end, it means nothing.
I also know that a lot of my students who train daily with me didn't know where my skills come from, they just chose me to teach them and they focus on training only.
I don't take it bad, we just exchange point of view

Lineages that can be bought isn't the same as lineage meaning nothing. Rather, it means that specifically that lineage is watering down it's value.

Even if they themselves are legit and very well known, a blue belt from Rener and Ryron Gracie is worth less than toilet paper around your waist. But in that case, the lineage means a lot, as you then know it's a toilet paper value belt and there has also been controversies with subpar instructors under Rener and Ryron. Someone who has sold out really put everyone further down the lineage in question.

The other way around, if you see a lot of really good people from a specific lineage, you might be quite sure to know what you get when you meet someone new from the same lineage. Even if it's a lineage where the last couple of names are only known very locally.

For me, the only belt on a Blackbelt page that I verify is the original Blackbelt. I keep it pretty easy. So for me if I see lineage, it’s super easy for me to prove the existence of a proper black belt from top to bottom.. even if that person bought the Blackbelt, as long as a black belt with the correct degree put it on them. it is what it is. I’m not gonna argue with the Blackbelt that put it on them. If you add your lineage for your original Blackbelt, you have my vote.

I don't think I've ever downvoted anyone because of a bought belt. Are there any really clear cases, which aren't within the usual variations of standards for BB promotions?

I've downvoted people (knowingly or not) laundering a non-legit BB degree with later time served BB degrees from legit BB:s though. Even if affiliation money etc. could very well be involved, I don't think those are bought grades, only non-sufficient due dilligence, which in my eyes renders the degrees non-legit even though degrees from the latest promoting instructor are otherwise legit.

I don’t personally know of any real cases in real life. But I think everybody has heard of the existence of it especially in certain countries. But until I see it, I won’t believe it.
