For those of you with a background in judo/JJJ, do you use any typical judo ne waza submissions/pins not frequently seen in BJJ? If so, which ones? I myself like to go for the ashi gatame when attacking the turtle, for example.
I use hip pressure on the face from side control and N/S to “encourage” the turtle and then often use Judo specific turnovers to segue into submissions- sankaku turnover to yoko sankaku jime or an armlock, double lapel turnover to crucifix and strangles, single lapel turnover to head and arm strangle or back take, etc…

After decades of judo I made a real point to learn bjj on it's own. Later on I started to incorporate my judo newaza back into my game. Namely the belt tie up mentioned before from Yoko sankaku, and I love to enter it from side control. It really is a strong position. I also tend to use alot or pressure from side control I learned from Judo. My judo coach trained with Kashiwazaki extensively so his game is definitely shown in my game whether I'm training judo or bjj. I also use alot of judo grip breaks when attacking the cross arm lock.
I did a three day camp with Kashiwazaki in 2017. It was the best BJJ training camp that wasn’t BJJ! 😝

I have a black belt in Judo, and when I instruct Jiu Jitsu I like to use Judo pins and transitions as a warmup. I've seen these drills really benefit my students when they are in the top position. I take other things from Judo ne-waza as well, but this has been the thing from ne-waza that has impacted their training the most.
