I was recently promoted to black belt. Not too tech savvy but I'm trying to get myself out there. I'll gladly go vote for vote if needed. I think I have enough verification, I just don't know enough people in the community yet. Thanks and much love!

Can you post Shaun's full lineage, preferably also with some evidence (e.g. social media post) showing when he got his original BB?
He's only wearing one stripe on your promotion pics, which is also the rank stated here https://www.shogunma.com/[...]ogun-staff
Is it correct he's only a 1:st degree BB? In that case, was it someone else being the actual promoting instructor? Would then be good to edit your promotion history stating that name as (senior) promoting instructor and providing evidence of it.
Edit: For Shaun's lineage, this seems to be it: https://www.bjjheroes.com[...]is-heredia
If you do a little digging, can you post a direct link to a post on Instagram etc. showing when Shaun got his BB? Seems to be some social media activity going on and it's quite recent, so got chances you can find it.

Shaun is correct a 1st degree. He got his black belt under Dave Camarillo. Luis Heredia was recently at our gym in October where he promoted another bb to 1st degree. I don't know if that's when Shaun was given the okay to promote me or if it's when he was in Philadelphia at Kristians gym(logic). . I know logic is the affiliate so I assumed that was the senior professor promoting. Luis is the higher rank of the two. https://www.instagram.com[...]c4b3N5emlp

Dave is legit too (e.g. https://www.bjjheroes.com[...]-camarillo), so either he or Luis could no problem be the senior promoting instructor, if you can get evidence of it and change your promotion history with the right name as promoting instructor (no problem also mentioning Shaun of course).

I somewhat think requiring 2 stripes is silly. 1 stripe should be plenty of time for a black belt to make that decision regardless of tradition these days.
While a brand new black belt shouldn't be promoting someone else to black belt. 3+ years at black belt and people still trying to hold their hands...
I'm voting yes regardless of what Johan says.

Promoting instructor's degree is no longer an issue, as it's changed to Luis. Now, there just need to be some evidence added.
Isn't it a bit silly that purple belts can't promote anyone to black belt? I would say most purple belts knows what a black belt level training partner looks and feels like. But ok, a brand new BB shouldn't. Where would YOU draw the line? And are there any established strong candidates for a widely used standard besides the 2:nd degree (six year) standard? Even any wider attempts (by whom?) to establish a different standard, not just within a single team or lineage? Or is it just 2:nd degree standard vs arbitrary standard?

I think 1 stripe is a pretty sold line
2 stripes is just unnecessary gate keeping.
Just my opinion, not saying my opinion matters. It doesn't.

I'm quite sure I'm not alone in reading all your posts while hearing them in the voice of James Earl Jones (RIP), so that actually gives your opinions quite some extra punch compared to those of the rest of us :-)
