Ju.
I generally am very suspicious of Japanese woo.
However.
Think.
Sometimes a yielding way, is not at all weak,
And just seems gentle, as or not,
as Tori wishes.
Ju does not mean,
that we cannot do violence very well.
It means, that we will not do violence,
just because you wish us, to hurt, or kill you.
We decide when and how we do violence,
not you.
Especially, and even if, and when,
you invite us to do violence.
We are more resilient than that,
and we do not answer to you.
We answer to Ju,
and our own conscience,
and our own judgement.

Luckily, protests in Florida last Saturday remained peaceful, and without riotous behaviors.
For this, I am grateful.
As someone who has spent his entire adult life teaching people how to grapple fu, and/or safe firearm handling, I include rules of engagement in every class.
I always expect and hope that the people that I train, are loathe to use their skills at violence, except in the strictest situations of immediate neutralization of violent threats in progress.
And, as much as I prize the ability for my students to be able to neutralize a threat physically, I prize de-escalation more, and I prize avoiding being in avoidable situations of potential threat even more than de-escalation.
Some of you might feel differently, but as for me, I hate paperwork, and I would rather walk my dog or watch the birds, than to do potentially permanent harm to anyone, let alone myself, if I can avoid it entirely.
One sees enough people wreck their lives with no upside, in moments of passion and foolishness, and one begins to hate to see it.
And the effect on their families.
This forum, is a good example, of the benefits of remembering to "be civil", and to regard disagreeing voices to our own as making for richer conversations.

There are Middle Ways.
Not just hot or cold,
For or Against,
or
Us vs Them.
There are Nash Equilibriums,
Ricardian Economics,
Quantum Possibilities,
And,
There is Always Another Door in the Wall.
I am not promising you anything you didn't already have,
and really nothing extra.
Other, than people can live together,
without killing each other.
