After 7 years and 2 months on the path of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, my promotion to brown belt is a moment carried by sweat, pain, frustrations, doubts, but also countless life lessons. It’s a journey that bends you, tests you, and ultimately builds you.
None of this would have the same value without my instructor, Kostas Lampos, and my training partners at Rush Athens Gym.
Kostas, you were there on the good days, but most of all on the hard ones. When the body wouldn’t respond and the mind wanted to quit. Through your attitude, your example, and your uncompromising quality, you taught us that Jiu Jitsu is not only about wins and techniques, but about patience, discipline, humility, and perseverance.
You give nothing away—and that is exactly why, when the time for promotion comes, it carries real weight and meaning.
This brown belt is not just a color.
It is responsibility.
It is trust.
It is the silent confirmation that the path was walked the right way, with values and character.
And when it comes from a teacher you deeply respect, it has immeasurable value.
Grateful, proud, and hungrier than ever for what comes next.
We continue on the tatami.
