Got my third degree on black belt on Jan 10th, and promoted 5 black belts the same day. Also promoted Michelle Welti to second degree, and if she ever finishes her profile, she will need votes too. Im certified with IBJJF up to 2nd degree already, but when I got my bb in Nov 2016, I waited until may 2017 to get my certificate and register. I didn't think I would compete, and i couldnt afford the certificate at the time, so it didn't matter then. I can't register my third degree with IBJJF until May, but I have promotion pics in my bio of Leo Dalla (coral belt) giving me my stripe.

Good clarification on the IBJJF diploma date, but with the FB post with Leo Dalla acknowledging your 2016 promotion, you could do totally without having paid off IBJJF and would still get verified for your degrees here (with 2:nd degree after six years as BB being enough to promote new BB:s).
