Hi Toni, I see from your profile that you're 18 years old - According to the BJJ belt system, once you turn 16 you follow the adult belt system - White, blue, purple, brown and black. If your're grey or above, once you turn sixteen it converts to blue or purple. Can it be that your academy has it's own belt system between white and blue? Some academies do that as the journey between white and blue can be long. If thats the case, you're yellow belt is still considered as white. All the best!

In my country, there is such a system where ranks are awarded based on acquired skills (you pass an exam). It’s even stated in my profile where it comes from (the federation), and it counts as an MMA yellow belt.
