Just a suggestion. There should be a notification to remind me to vote for someone who has voted for me in the past if they are up for a promotion.
“This person has voted for you and is in need of your vote now!” Type deal.
A scratch my back and I scratch yours? Tit for tat.

But the system is not based on voting for someone because they voted for you :)

Makes sense. Just a thought.

Would however be helpful to see if someone has up or down voted me or if I have up or down voted them next to their name (just as I can see that they are verified or have some other status). Especially in the profiles needing votes section. But perhaps would require too much digital juice to do?

I pretty much agree. In martial arts, progress should always be based on merit and consistency, not favoritism.
Maybe slightly out of context, but I believe the mat doesn’t lie. Only discipline, effort, and a true understanding of the fundamentals really matter.

How is my suggestion favoritism? It was a suggestion to see who has voted for you and to remind me to vote.
If you voted on other people’s promotions and on a weekend, you were promoted, you wouldn’t want those people you voted for to get a notification you need to be verified again because that’s favoritism?
People come on this app, get votes then are gone until their next promotion. They don’t post, they aren’t involved and they don’t vote for others. This was a thought to get more people involved.

Would actually be useful to easily see if someone voted for you once they're up for re-verification and their votepoints temporarily don't count. Without going into the section on who they voted for.
Would also be nice to get a total on their number of up and down votes. There are unfortunately far too many leechers on Beltchecker.

When we start getting into seeing how someone voted for you, there could potentially be retaliation votes.

Or perhaps even different badges for amount of times someone has voted like you have now for forum posts.
🥇 Voted 10000 times
🥈 voted 5000 times
🥉 Voted 1000 times
Or similar. Just made up some numbers.

Been there, had that. Wouldn't be an issue if other members right away down voted revenge voters below where their votes would count.
But as of now, no one has your back if someone decides to cast an obviously retaliatory vote (and often also use their influence over their students to have them do the same).

My methodology is to only dispute profiles that are legit crap, made up or BS.
If someone needs something on this profile, I typically shoot them a message with a suggestion or post it on their wall. But I don’t vote on it at all until later.

I agree with you Ken. I think a vote down, should only be used in rare circumstances, almost as a penalization if they don't update their profile how it should be after someone shows a discrepancy, or they don't respond to a correction that needs to be done or something like that. Anyhow, that is my two cents worth.

Just to clarify, please look closely at the original message and my reply (on Christian's message).
My point was simply that voting should not be reciprocal by default (agreeing to Christian's message). Just because someone voted for me doesn’t mean I should automatically vote back. I was agreeing with the principle expressed in the previous message.
That said, if someone gets promoted in the meantime and I had already voted for them before, then of course I would vote again, after analysing closely.
