I'm sure you lost your AR in a boating accident, right?
Even around here our lakes levels have risen dramatically due to all the guns lost in boating incidents.

The people running the ban and confiscation know virtually nothing about firearms.
That is the way most bans work. People who know nothing about the subject matter get to decide what stays and what goes with complete disregard for any objective truth.

Younger son asked why I was making "a Clint Eastwood face" while I dry fired.
I replied:
I could tell you, it was because when I learned to box, they taught us to snarl.
Or, that, I was taught to have a command voice, and a war face.
I could point out the Karate people, Kiai.
But the truth is, son, the reason, Clint Eastwood makes that face,
Or I do, at my age,
Is because our whole body hurts.
Including holding up, these fucking revolvers,
As I practice with them.
So, ehhhhhh.

Re-training, to shoot revolver, with both eyes open, different stances.

And, some basic revolver dexterity.

Ooof.

Call me Lefty, was one thing.

Old habits, die hard.

Everything is new, to those that are new to it, and nothing ever was new under the Sun.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

OMG you Americans and your guns haha
For the sole purpose of perpetuating the well earned and beloved stereotype, I am not a gun enthusiast and still have 20-25 guns and have built a few of them myself. I guess I should say had since they were all lost in a tragic canoeing accident years ago. That seems to happen a lot around here. I bet our lake levels have risen 3 feet due to those accidents.

Here in Connecticut, there are a ton of guns. Rich people buy cool toys. Most lost to boating accidents. But no I’ll admit I’m a full on gun enthusiast and nerd.

My latest addition to the collection: a Ruger SFAR 16" in .308 Win. I knew it had some negative reviews when I bought it, but I turned it into a fun project by replacing the gas block and buffer. Now it’s a great-shooting .308 in an AR-15–sized platform.

The mighty Barrett M107A1. It's certainly not something I shoot all the time but it always puts a smile on my face when I do.

I took this black bear in New Brunswick with my Ruger-made Marlin 1895 (45-70). I love this gun and it's even nicer shooting it at hogs here in Texas with the can on it.

I love this picture because I show it to everyone who tells me "you can't hunt deer with an AR-15". I built this rifle myself. It features a 16" BSF Barrel in 6.5 Grendel with a Banish 30 direct thread suppressor and a Tract Toric Hunt series scope.

I couldn't leave this one out: fulfilling a lifelong dream in South Africa with my Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H Magnum. I'll be going back next year for hippopotamus and nile crocodile.

How is the felt recoil on that rig?

Compared to say your 45-70 lever?

Honestly, when you're facing down that Cape Buffalo, it feels like a 243. Huge adrenalin dump. The easiest way to explain it is this: remember when you never heard a rattlesnake before? Then you hear one and, even though you never heard one before, your brain instantly knows what that sound is and you freeze. I tell you what: those things looking right at you....same feeling as your first close call with a rattler.

At the range? Imagine a 300 WinMag but more of a push than a slap. I would say more than a 45-70, less than most 12ga 3.5" turkey loads

Coincidentally, I have taken a water buffalo bull with a 45-70 BFR revolver, with my at the time young son in tow, and not because I had planned to, so I get that.
Although in my case, the resulting buffalo meat took years to go through, even after giving a fair amount of it away...
My wife was quite tired of it, even for meat sauce meat, after that.
I don't hunt much anymore, I am more a bird and nature watcher, these days.
Although if the economy really tanks, small game and deer might be a way to keep the family in meat for a while.
Where I live the local deer population was totally decimated during the Great Depression, then carefully replenished through the work of a single Park ranger, and now they are all over the place again, here.
Along with wild pig, and all the other Florida swamp game you would expect.

Wow. The BFR. That's intense. The most recoil I can handle in a handgun is my Glock 20C with "bear loads". Years of training damaged my wrist joint and I sold my 44mag when I couldn't shoot it accurately anymore.

I do more dry fire than live fire practice these days.

And my favorite firearm to shoot livefire is a 22LR Henry lever...

This is my personal favorite pistol, the Walther PDP, Aimpoint Acro P2, and Modlite PL350. I own many rifles and pistols, and I prefer expensive guns because you get what you pay for, but this is a bare bones PDP and it’s the gun I trust my life with when I’m out and about with my family. Only about 2K rounds through it, never a malfunction.
