Just a question on the photo. Is the 4th degree Klinger Araújo? Because the attached photo shows him as a 2nd degree. The photo was from a seminar flier from 14 July 2026. Am I missing something?

For anyone confused by the belt differences: Klinger Araujo was advertised as a 2nd Degree Black Belt on the official 3GMMA flyer because that was his last publicly registered rank. In the photo from yesterday, he is wearing a 4th-degree belt, POSSIBLY given to him on the mats by 8th-degree Coral Belt Master Edmilson Alves.
Is this legal under the IBJJF? No. The IBJJF explicitly bans skipping degrees and requires a strict, sequential 3-year wait per stripe. However, this is a textbook example of traditional lineage authority vs. corporate federations.
Araujo spent roughly 7 years operating as a 2nd degree.
I can assume from what I have found that Edmilson Alves calculated Klinger's physical years of service on the mats as a 2nd degree black belt and bypassed the bureaucratic lag to award him the 3rd and 4th stripes simultaneously.
Mainstream federations might not recognize it yet, but the lineage and the community timeline absolutely back it up

Would help if Ovais completed his profile and confirmed your promotion. Also good if the both of you added full lineage in the designated field on your profiles. Good promotion pic for blue belt (with no BB:s close, purple promoting blue can be ok) but just a together-with-pic for your purple. Very stiff belt, but so has everyone else, but enough for me to go for just not voting as of now.
