I am looking for advise on returning to jiu jitsu after a total shoulder replacement. How much time did it take you to return, what do you know now that you wish you have known before the surgery, any advise on additional training to do during recovery, how did your game or class participantion/coaching changed etc. I understand that no journey may be equal but your wisdom is greatly appreciated

I had surgery earlier this year due to an injury obtained while rolling, not to my shoulder but to a finger on my right hand. Take your time on returning, better safe than sorry. I returned 3 months after my surgery and rolled for a couple of weeks and the next thing I know I have a post-op bone infection and they are wanting me to have a PICC line placed for a 6 week course of antibiotics. 😮💨 Listen to your doctors, but most importantly listen to your body.

There's a good thread on this already that will most likely answer the majority of your questions: https://www.beltchecker.c[...]ery?page=6
The good news is there is life on the mats after a total replacement!
