Not 100% certain of date. I officially started training Jits at the start of 2006, and was promoted after 18mths to Blue belt on the Isle of Man. Attached is a photo of me as a 2 stripe blue.

I started BJJ under Rodney King at the end of 2005/start of 2006. I was originally a kickboxer looking for a trainers program and started with the Crazy Monkey Defense Program. They were also doing Jiu Jitsu (Rodney Kings was a Brown Belt at the time, and hence had John Will assist in the beginning, but this was short lived). As the Isle of Man did not have any BJJ, I started to learn and coach it to my boxing/kickboxing clients from a white belt. We had regular visits to Manchester to the UK head coach of Crazy Monkey Defense - Phillip Wright, who was a 3 or 4 stripe Blue belt at the time (coloured belts where very rare back then). I unfortunately can't seem to find any photo's of back then.

Appreciate the feedback... never got a certificate for any of my belts, a change in colour was enough for me. However, I will be requesting a cert when I receive my black. That will be a very proud day.
