I started wrestling in 1973 at the age of five in Colorado. I have competed in most forms of wrestling offered in the U.S. including Freestyle, Greco Roman, and Collegiate. I continued my wrestling career through high school years earning recognition in all styles of amateur wrestling. After competing in high school I wrestled in college for Fort Lewis College at the Division II collegiate level. I started my college career as a true freshman and wrestled from 1989 through 1993 as the varsity wrestler in weight classes 158 and 177. During my college wrestling career I continued to wrestle in Freestyle competition in the USA Wrestling system. After ending my competitive wrestling career in 1994 I started coaching. I have coached athletes from beginners through college competitors. I am a Bronze Certified Wrestling Coach under USA Wrestling Federation. I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1997 under Professor Shane Pitts and the Grandmaster Ricardo Murgel of Union Team. I currently hold a 2nd degree black belt awarded to me by Professor Pitts and Grandmaster Murgel in August 2019. Because of my wrestling and martial arts background I have worked with many mixed martial arts competitors including Benson Henderson, Nate Marquardt, Duane Ludwig, Cat Zingano, Justin Salas, Brendan Schaub, and Cody Donovan. I have been a guest coach at both the Grudge Training Center and Muscle Farms Elevation Fight team in Colorado. I was the head wrestling, and assistant BJJ and MMA coach for the Yamasaki Woodbridge Academy from 2010-2014 until moving to Frankfurt Germany. Because of a career change I am currently living and coaching in Bentonville Arkansas. I have just started coaching at Inferno Fitness and Martial Arts.
