It all started with my Shorinji Kempo instructor graduating from college and moving away. After earning a brown belt in Shorinji Kempo (My instructor's lineage now call it Ken Zen Kempo), I was hungry for more martial arts. I lead classes for a short while, but it wasn't the same. I wasn't ready to be an instructor. A friend and training partner recommended I look into another school near by. (Gracie Barra Idaho, Judo and BJJ). I attended some classes and was introduced to the word of grappling. My life was changed! I felt pretty good about my skills as a stand up martial artist, and found that I was sorely mistaken. Training when ever I could, but not very frequently, I worked my skills from a new perspective. When I began going to college, following my BJJ instructor's recommendation I tried Judo on campus. I focused my training on Judo for ten years occasionally going to one of the local BJJ schools when I could. After earning a blackbelt in Judo I joined the coaching staff at the local University where I trained. While teaching Judo at the University I was invited to teach Judo at Colossal Fight Company. Currently I'm refocusing on my training, working to be a better Judoka/Jiujiteiro. Work hard, be safe, train often.
