I started training Jiu-jitsu in 2007 and trained continuously for 2 years after which I stopped for 3 years and the started again for another 8 months after which I stopped again due to injuries and life taking me to different places and towns where no schools were available to train at. During my anti-poaching work I continued training in the martial arts with more emphasis on knife/philipino stick fighting and close quarters combat with firearms as well as "ground work" which incorporated mostly Jiu-jitsu techniques and principles in conjunction with self defense for altercations with Poachers and or attackers in that line of work. I again started training specifically Jiu-jitsu in the year 2017 for 6 months before moving to Italy where I started training kickboxing until returning to South Africa where I again started training Jiu-jitsu once again in 2019. Through my journey I have learnt that persistence is key and that Jiu-jitsu is a part of my life and will always be and it has taught me so many lessons and helped me grow as an individual and become more humble and also meet so many like minded individuals who have become family which is truly priceless. Thank you to everyone who has submitted me and been a part of my long and wonderful journey! If anyone is ever passing through Oudtshoorn and is looking for a training partner, please don't hesitate to let me know, as it would be great to meet some Jiu-jitsu and Grappling practitioners from in and around the area
