I'm a small guy and I got into BJJ after watching (my first hero) Royce Gracie in the UFC and EVERY tape I could get my hands on from Blockbuster Video! I started training with a Purple Belt that taught some free with gym membership lessons at a local Iowa Gold's Gym in the early 2000's. I began later in earnest with another Saulo Ribeiro affiliated Purple Belt (now Black) Jason Clarke in Coralville, IA. Jiujitsu has become an integral part of my life since and all my best friends were made there. I can't imagine life without BJJ anymore than I can without my family. It's been my health (and extensive injury list) my sanity (and depression), my social net (and soap opera), my relaxation (and stress), my joy (and sorrow). In essence, it is love.
