Johan- I am not sure you are doing your research. I personally trained under both Eddie and Lionel at Bone Island JIuJitsu for years, and met Master Relson Gracie at their school. They have straight lineage. I am going to stop engaging on this issue.

Johan, also some I have some photos that show me training with Lionel at the academy (Boyd is in the pic), as well as another with him at my first promotion since moving to Key West.

Where is Lionel now? He isn't listed among the instructors of the academy. Getting hold of the guy (making sure it's him) seems like a reasonable first stop in verifying.

I will respond to you (again) respectfully. I will reiterate, in this public forum some of the things I said to you privately. I own that I mistakenly erroneously listed professor Eddie Aguiar as a second-degree black belt. He has not received that stripe yet. My mistake. I’m sure you’ll be glad to hear, that he is receiving that stripe this month during our annual promotions. He will be receiving it from his brother, Prof. Lionel Perez. As odd as the concept is to you, they’re brothers (you questioned it) even though they have different last names. Just like my sister and I have different last names. I’d say google “mixed families” but again you and google are at odds.

Prof. Perez is awarding those stripes for time-in-grade as a black belt. Kinda like your Professor did (over the internet according to your bio) which suddenly miraculously works for you now. I noticed (and commend you) I saw that you’ve been granted your stripes. Pretty fast as many others (not me) have pointed out. I look forward to being the first to congratulate you on receiving your coral belt next year.

You said you can’t find who, Lionel Perez is. You asked me for some type of documentation. I showed it to you, where he is registered as a black belt under the Relson Gracie website. You responded with I can’t find him anywhere on their website. (Suddenly google stops working for you again) I sent you the link as requested as well as screenshots. Now you come back with “I can’t find him anywhere on the Internet.” I send you pictures of him from our site showing him with Maestre Relson in 2014 and his brother… he is clearly wearing his 2nd degree… in 2014! Not unheard of here either with siblings with different surnames and as I wrote, it doesn't really matter here. Point was only it wasn't obvious from an outside perspective they were brothers. Having a sibling (whether with the same surname or not) who's a senior BB is of course not a free card to promote others to BB in their name, so that's why I asked to see some kind of evidence of Lionel promoting you. What I got was a group pic where I recognise Relson but can't really know who the ones sitting next to him are and it's also difficult to see the number of stripes, instructor's stripes excluded. Even if I knew from another source that one of them was Lionel, that wouldn't in itself show he promoted you. Only thing I got about Lionel is a name without a face on Relson's homepage. I really can't draw any conclusions regarding your degree from that alone. But if you're ok with my down vote, that's fine.
