In my 24yrs in the art, I have noticed that BJJ attracts all types of people. So what do all you guys do for a living. I personally practice medicine, do project management, and run a special operations training academy for military and law enforcement special operations units from around the world. Feel free to check out our website at http://www.SpecOpsTS.com
Looking forward to what people do for a living outside of BJJ.

Social worker. I work in a vocational rehab organization where we help people with disabilities get back to work. Specifically, I run a program where we help people with chronic and persistent mental illness find and maintain employment. I do individual work with our clients, I build relationships with employers, I provide disability and accommodation training. It’s good stuff, and I love it!

As an aside, another BJJ practitioner and I ran a BJJ class at our worksite for a couple years for both clients and staff. ❤️

First I was in the Air Force for 14 years and now I work in concrete forming. All low rise foundation footings and walls. (construction) It is hard on the body but now that I have moved into a more managerial role it has gotten way better.

I work at one of the bigger BJJ gear webshops in Europe. We've got a dojo in our office/warehouse, which is a nice plus.

If you're ever around Groningen in The Netherlands, feel free to stop by for coffee and some rolls! :)

I'm in commercial real estate. I've had a ton of jobs before my current career. ranging from home delivery milk man to surf photographer (most fun job) to drug and alcohol counselor at a hospital (most challenging job). My current career allows me to work from home and help with the kids and for the most part dictate my own schedule. I train as much as I can but with a 4 and 1 year old, I'm averaging about 3 days a week of training. When the kids get older, I'm looking forward to getting back to 5+ days a week of training.

Teach BJJ. So yeah, so much for off-topic, I guess. :P

I've been full time with BJJ teaching since October 2018. Before that, I was part-time in an office, running reports and crunching numbers. I.e., Excel bunny. That was most of my career before the switch to full time teaching, part time so I could also run my school. Aside from that, I used to be a pro BJJ Journalist too, mainly for Jiu Jitsu Style Magazine (I wrote for that from issue 1 until it folded). Also did some teaching at uni, English Lit.

Cyber Security ... person? (Definitely not going to use the term expert)! Ethical Hacker, Cyber Investigator, uhh other terms that are a ridiculous way of saying I work in security.

I didn't get to see much of the world while active duty. I grew up in San Antonio, TX, went to Basic Training across town at Lackland AFB, then to Keesler AFB for 3 months for tech school. and finally, back to Randolph AFB in San Antonio for the rest of my enlistment.
