Woo, absolutely LOVE statistics! My whole life is almost literally on a spreadsheet, from how much I sleep and post on Instagram through to all the club finances and camp ticket tracking. More data, the better. :D

That belt rank list could be links (would nice to see who are the top/old dogs here).
Also bothersome that others are "belts" but from black on it's just "belt".

It would also be interesting to see the gender split. Both forums and BJJ tend to skew heavily male, unfortunately, though it's been really cool to see that an increasing number of women have been attending camps (at least at the ones I've been to).

Would be nice to include some age related stats as well, have no idea how many fill out their birthdate however ...

Yeah, that would be interesting. I thought birthdate was compulsory? Though I guess you could fake it, if for some reason you wanted to appear younger or whatever. #Vanity. :P

Pretty sure I'm on the "Most viewed profiles" list because I visit my own profile so often. Can also be my looks.

great metrics/stats. I'm excited to have been within the first 300 verified users and my ID# is under 900. Great job on this site. I can tell the entire development team has worked really hard (especially since the site is still in Beta and seems to be working as well as it is).

I can run some stats with age, anything you wish for?

Average age per belt.
Average age to reach a certain belt rank.
Would be cool to see averages how long it has taken to attain a certain belt rank, and also what is the average of staying at certain rank, from among the verified users.
Oldest and youngest person to start, and reach a certain belt.
A person who has started the earliest.
Who has the best hair in each age division.

This is a statistic that isn't actually measured yet, but it ties in with a new feature that I thought of. How about a field like "Languages" or "Languages spoken" that people can add to their profiles? Since many people could conceivably use this site for networking (especially as the user base grows), it could be useful for them to know if they can message someone in a language they're more comfortable with. Like, if they're not confident in their English they can see "Oh shit, he speaks Russian too" and proceed accordingly.
Then an interesting statistic would be "most spoken languages". Maybe just my geography geek speaking. Would be a cool way to show the international reach of the site though.

Ooh fun data!
I was number 14 of most viewed but dropped down to 17. But I'm at 3rd fastest black belt to be verified. A completely useless, yet still satisfying achievement haha.
BTW has anyone written about beltchecker on Reddit BJJ?

I don't have a lot of time to work today, but luckily I was up all night last night to build the foundation of the statistics module really well, so it's pretty easy for me to add new stats. I just added a lot of new stuff, check it out on http://www.beltchecker.co[...]p?p=system

I like the stats Tatu asked for, and am going to throw out there that Aesopian's format for graphing it has been a pretty good visual format for it in the past as well. It would be cool to be able to see such a graph for average (verified), average (all), fastest (verified), etc.

For the age/gender related statistics per belt, one could use a population pyramid (aka age-gender-pyramid), a classic graphical illustration of a population, using the age divisions steps of IBJJF ...

I’ve been in the marketing research world almost 20 years now and love all this. I don’t understand how someone could work in stats and not be interested in the stats of their own hobbies. Maybe I missed this, but curious to know the breakout of users by country.

Some interesting stats (because I'm a stats nerd, and this is literally what I do for fun). Please correct me if any of my math seems off, I just thought this is a neat thought experiment:
"Likelihood of verification" by belt rank (verified users divided by registered users, by belt rank)
White belt: 73/699= 10.44%
Blue belt: 68/925= 7.35%
Purple belt: 50/694= 7.20%
Brown belt: 31/486= 6.38%
Black belt (all degrees collapsed): 88/877=10.03%
This is actually surprising, given how much harder it is for a black belt to get verified compared to a white belt. It requires 5 times the number of votes for a black belt to get verified compared to a blue belt, 2.5 times the number of votes for black compared to purple, and ~1.43 times the number of votes for black compared to brown. We'll call this a "difficulty multiplier". We can use the difficulty multiplier to mitigate the difficulty of verification for black belts. Thus, if all other belts were just as likely to be verified as the black belts are right now (10.03%), given the same difficulty, we should see:
~464 blue belts verified (10.03% x 5 [multiplier] x 925 [total registered])
~174 purple belts verified (10.03% x 2.5[multiplier] x 694 [total registered])
~70 brown belts verified (10.03% x 1.43[multiplier] x 486 [total registered])
Another fun fact, if we broke up the black belts by rank, black belt 4th degree has the highest likelihood of being verified (100%) @William Murphy

Christian, if you could add a question to the blackbelts here if they are registered with the IBJJF or not, we could estimate based on that how many blackbelts there are in the world by multiplying the IBJJF numbers. That could be fun!

If it hasn't been said already, how about listing the number of forum posts a person has made by their name, maybe stuff like what threads they have created too? I always liked that about forums back in the day, meant I could see how active somebody was. :D

Yeah this is already on my list :) Already, building a forum from scratch alone is a lot of work, so it’s been a bit down the priority list but at some point when core functionality of the site is more solidified, I’ll work more on the forum and all the fun things we can do here

Cool! And yeah, definitely not a priority. For me, the stat I'm most interested in seeing is still a gender breakdown of the numbers, as one of my big goals with my club is increasing the number of women training. Though I suspect that online projects like this skew male (and BJJ as a sport also already skews male), would still make for some interesting stats.
