Hi everyone,
I just thought I would check in and ask if any of the Beltchecker community is on the new social media app, Clubhouse?
And I hope everyone is managing to keep safe and still train Jiu Jitsu with all that is going on in the world right now!

It seems to be the latest thing with celebs etc. It is kind of like a podcast(audio only) except that you are able to chime in live during breaks in conversations to discuss issues or just chat with celebs and influencers etc. Interesting that it is just audio and also invitation only!

I jump on any social media (well, not something like Parler, but yeah, most social media ;) ). I haven't heard of Clubhouse before, sounds interesting, though I can't say I'm especially interested in celebs. I guess it would be cool to chat to Clark Gregg, I was wondering today if I know somebody who trains with him. Probably, BJJ isn't that big a community, even now (one of the many reasons I love it :D ).

This one is different to most other social media platforms. There is no friending people, no images or videos and no direct messaging people. It is more like a real time podcast in which you can engage with hosts of rooms etc. And while I am not necessarily a fan of "celebs" and "influencers" as such, Rener Gracie is on there as are some other prominent BJJ practitioners and I believe it is only a matter of time before they begin a BJJ chat on there which would be really cool!
And it would be great to be able to finally chat in person mate! ;-)

Ok for those of you with iPhone's, now is the time to get on Clubhouse as some of the BJJ community are starting to get really actively involved on this platform! This morning I was chatting in a room with: Robert Drysdale, Romulo Barral, Jackson Souza, AJ Azagarm, Emily Kwok, amongst many other great BJJ artists! The other day GSP was in a BJJ room talking about mindset, training and recovery, and generally staying healthy and active!

My sister keeps wanting to invite me, but it is iPhone only and I hate Apple. :P
But yeah, I'll accept her invite when (if?) it appears on Android. I'm also a bit uncertain if this is going to be a load of people shouting over each other, or alternatively two or three people talking while nobody else feels they can interrupt. In person I like small groups for conversations and really really dislike big ones. Nevertheless, it's social media so I'll try it regardless (when it's on Android). ;)

FYI: Twitter is countering that with their own Twitter Spaces in which I have participated couple of times. Have no idea if there's a BJJ scene there as well or not.

Interesting... I have been in rooms with Chris Haueter, Carlos Machado and so many other world class Jiu Jitsu instructors and athletes on Clubhouse. Is it the same on Twitter?

I actually got rid of twitter years ago, so if it is any good, I may have to get it again. :-)
