Part of the reason for building this was that I wanted to create an alternative for myself to Facebook. A calmer place with less advertisement, less political shouting and slower pace. Glad a few other seem to have been looking for something similar.

So far, so good :)

Best part is everyone here (unlike Facebook) train Jiujitsu 100% of the time, this is much, much better then the odds on Facebook!

Real face & name there next to everything one posts also make a big difference vs., say, r/bjj on reddit.

I have to say I also enjoy the old school technical crudeness (sorry Graugart!) of the Forum :D

I am on here way more than Facebook. I was enjoying Tiki's Tok, but there are a lot more political things on it than there had been.

Yeah I am spending more time on Beltchecker than any other form of social media. Great folks on here with a sense of humour and good coversations. The community vibe here is a big bonus. I can't wait for this lockdown crap to end so you can all smash me on the mat. Afterall, that is what friends would do. Lol

I've not used FB since Aug/Sept last year and spend most of my waking hours on this site :)

Talking about jiu-jitsu confuses a lot of my Facebook friends.

When I tried to share BeltChecker there, the normies thought it was a weight loss thing.

The other nice thing about BeltChecker is that, since people have to post under their real names, and people are less likely to misbehave if they can't do so anonymously, I'm not getting harassed here. Harassment of female members is a huge problem on r/bjj, and the Women's Grappling Network on Facebook regularly has to fend off anonymous perverts. I predict that will seldom be a problem on BeltChecker.

I seem to be the only woman posting regularly for now, but I hope some others see the advantages and join me eventually.

I'm on fb a good deal, but I rarely interact on there. I think I'm mostly just "feeling the pulse", and my time is spent merely as a lurker. I feel like my input is more relevant in here and I'm really grateful for the creation of this site.

There are some familiar characters here and I like the way you express your thoughts in words. Definitely appreciate the quirky humour which makes me LOL sometimes

Also the amount of moderating to be done here on the forum is astonishingly low, which is a tell of the conversation quality.

In a year, only a handful of posts removed for not following the No topics asking for votes / No advertisement / No political discussions / Be nice rules.

I am. But I avoid FB as much as I can. Mostly Twitter nowadays.
Twitter is possibly the only big social media site I avoid. Faaaaar too many arseholes on there. Though I guess I could do what I do on reddit, which is immediately block anybody annoying. ;)

Well, I say 'avoid'. I still have four twitter accounts, I just don't actually log into twitter much. :P

Might as well create beltchecker instant messenger at this point for the right side of the navigation window.

gotta admit I check way too often to see whether I've got enough votes yet haha...

I use FB mainly for messenger, and the Pages.

Deleted FB from my phone a few months ago. I only check it on my pc with a separate browser (Epic). It's great.

Twitter only for news gathering. No interactions.

Tuneing down my use of IG too. Mostly use it as a sort of diary. Stopped using hashtags too, because I don't give a shit about getting followers.

Also, no recognizable faces of my kids allowed on social media.

Started using signal & telegram too, instead of whatsapp

Rest of the time I'm here.

I have a look on beltchecker every day. Lots of people with the same passion here and I like there are no political discussions here.
I had digital detox for almost 3 years and deleted Facebook, but registered in January 2020 again, but mainly to promote our small bjj training group.

I don't use hashtags primarily for followers, I use them for categorisation. E.g., I keep all my posts on my various accounts about armbars under the same hashtag, makes it easy for me to check back on how I've taught it before, so I can improve it the next time. Same with my personal account when I want to remember something from a holiday, I've got specific hashtags for each country. I love categorising things. :D
