How many of you spend more time here on Beltchecker than other social media sites like Facebook and Instagram?
I spend more time on here than those other ones.

Some folks are leaving those other outlets. Are you planning on doing the same?
Daniel Bertina posted his plan to leave Facebook recently and it got me thinking.

What do you say Beltchecker family?

There was a recent topic about kind of the same: https://www.beltchecker.c[...]52c885d073

I would love to leave Facebook and Instagram but I use it too much for business purposes still. One of my initial missions with Beltchecker was to build myself a quieter alternative to Facebook though, so I'll keep chipping away at that dream :)

Like I said in the other thread, I'm pretty much on every social media platform I can find. If I'm in an up mood like I am now, meaning I want to do loads of social interaction and I'm all excitable, I will keep open a tab for Beltchecker, Facebook and reddit. I then spend most of the day bouncing between the three, refreshing them. While I do that, I'll probably be preparing a class, watching some instructional video, checking WhatsApp and preparing for DnD sessions.

Facebook is by far the social media I spend the most time on, it has been almost the entirety of my social life over the pandemic. It's also a key part of my social life in normal times too, except that normally, that's broken up by ACTUALLY MEETING UP WITH the people I talk to so much on Facebook, at camps and on various trips. ;)

Beltchecker isn't active enough to compete with the amount of time I spent on Facebook, especially as on Facebook, I've got around 6 very active groupchats with loads of updates a day, along with maybe 10 others that are less frequent. So that's constant. However, I'd say Beltchecker and reddit take up about the same amount of my time. It would be handy if Beltchecker sent email updates when a thread I'm subscribed to gets a response (unless it already does and I've turned that feature off somehow?), that way I probably wouldn't refresh the tab so often. :D

And yes, I have a quite major social media addiction, which won't surprise anybody who has seen me at camp, sitting on my phone. For most of the camp. :P

Same here. I've wanted to close my Facebook and Instagram accounts for a while now, but can't because of my business page.

I probably spend an equal amount of time on Beltchecker as I do on Facebook at this point

I agree, I would prefer not to have a need for other social media but too much of the info I get about BJJ is on those other platforms.

I am plain addicted to all of it. I am hopeful an EMP will take out the grid and then I'll be forced to chip stone for posting and messaging. Lol

Although I'm an IT manager by day, my dream is similar to what you said. I would really enjoy a world without technology, somedays more than others!

Since finding beltchecker I have to be honest my desire to be on other social media sites have dwindled.

I had move away from Facebook to a large extent over the last year and migrated over to Instagram during that time.

There is definitely another shift happening now. My wife has even started teasing me now. Lol

She keeps saying, "Are you on your jiu jitsu dating site again?" ...well hell I love jiu jitsu, if I could donit all day and never worry about money again I would definitely quit my day job.

Its just great to hang out with like minded people that share the same passion.

Maybe I'll checknthe other social media platforms once a month :)

Yeah, when I hook up rolls with my mates I get chirped about going on play dates...lol

My wife is cool though, super supportive of the jiu-jitsu journey and the process, so I can't complain.

She will follow me all over the country to seminars or comps. I disguise jiu-jitsu trips as holiday destinations... you know balance in all things. :)

All my vacations include a jiu-jitsu stop, I even found training on a cruise ship. Lol.

I got banned from both sherdog and mma.tv so it’s nice to see another option come along lol.

I like the environment here more than facebook but will still use other social media outlets for business purposes and reaching the local community but I do find I am already spending a lot more time here than facebook. Also engaging more than mindlessly scrolling to see if there is new content.

Since my gym has closed I've no further need for FB so I have all but deleted it from my phone and removed all the content from my account. I still need to find stuff on FB now and then. I have also deleted WhatsApp as I was getting spammed and added to gambling/porn groups without my permission - this practice has started to find its way to Signal.
Twitter = gone.
Sometimes on Reddit and I see Slideyfoot's posts on -/BJJ
Mostly on Instagram - no new posts recently due to a dietary change - and YouTube.
I don't use any other social media and I'm on this forum regularly (as some will know)

Ha - it's not hard to get banned from Sherdog, but I haven't seen many banned from The Underground. Now I'm curious as to what caused that banhammer to fall down on you... ;)

It was pretty sudden no warning or anything but I had been consistently trolling a mod for awhile.

I am starting to. The other sites have so much drama and hate.
We’re mostly drama free here, mostly.

I bounce between fb, the insta, and here. I likely won’t completely leave fb or insta because it’s how I keep in touch with certain friends, but I spend less time there interacting with the bjj community since it gets to be too much. The vibe here is cordial and I hope it stays that way.

That’s why I said mostly haha. I’m sure there will be similar issues in the future as well.

I still have nightmares from that time. All that unnecessary bloodshed.
When will we learn as humans to just get along? Lol
