Hey everybody-

Earlier today while rolling I heard 'pop' behind my knee. It wasn't while twisting in any direction. It was while lying on my back and using my feet to against my partner's weight. My knee was brought toward my chest and we both heard the pop. We stopped immediately to be sure nothing was wrong. My knee hasn't swelled at all and I can extend my leg without a problem. There's a slight bit of pain behind the knee when I walk, but that's all.

Has anyone had a similar issue before? I'm tempted to roll tomorrow, but I don't want to make it worse.

Thanks!

My knees pop about a 1000 times a day Unless your experiencing some sort of actual issue your fine lol

Hamstrings are more annoying

Also when you have real knee strains don't play so much guard. I noticed not playing guard that much really helps my knees heal.

If you have a medical question PLEASE go to the doctor.. Not saying I listen to their advice but at least you can make an educated decision

Thanks for the input guys. I took it easy today. Just a bit stiff in the back, but still no swelling thankfully. I'll give it more rest, and if it doesn't take care of itself, I'll have a doctor take a look.

Go see a medical professional to get this checked regardless of whether you feel like it heals up!

And I would recommend you go see a physiotherapist for further advice regarding recovery to ensure you don't do any further damage. Almost every black belt I know regrets ignoring some of the little hurts that later on became more serious issues for them. Why risk it?

Agreed with what the Black belts have said here. My knee popped years and years ago which was the start of my meniscus tear. It didn't finish tearing till 9 years later completely when I had surgery, but better to know exactly what is happening to your body and manage it properly. If I would have gone to the doctor I could have prevented the whole thing...
