Sweeping off turtle bottom

Hello fellow grapplers!
I like to experiment with initiating turtle while sparring.
While in turtle I try using shoulder rolls to sweep the opponent forward, which works sometimes, unfortunately, I somehow always end up being pulled after my opponent and then fighting to avoid having my back taken at panda position.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
David

Do you mean this sweep? https://youtu.be/mzTjgiGrfhI?t=145
Telles calls this 'steamroller sweep' but judoka will call it 'makikomi'
Maybe the set up/angle you are doing is off. It's impossible to give feedback without seeing what you're doing to end up there.
Also when you're in Panda... if you have your posture correct your partner will have a tough time securing their grips and hooks. Priit's Panda = https://youtu.be/DRmc21j3AVI?t=538

I love using makikomi, however I admit is can be rather high risk. I have been studying some of Priit's stuff in recent weeks and have been gaining confidence with it rapidly. Looking forward to seeing what the next year + looks like with a greater emphasis on defensive tactics.

Telles is one of my favourites to watch. Really has the laziest style in jiu jitsu ... hell even the way he talks lol. I highly recommend all half guard players to learn turtle from Telles.

Fun fact: you don't earn points under ibjjf rule set for sweeping or taking your opponent down from turtle. I just took the ibjjf rules webinar, and specifically asked this question. They said nope. Totally blew my mind.

It's because turtle is not a guard (per IBJJF rules). You also don't get points for "passing" turtle via putting them on bottom side mount for example.
Strategies can revolve around these types of rules.
