Hey all, my question is what games do you do, if any, before kids classes?

My favourite one is called: Find a blue belt to teach it!
But I do a lot of racing with shrimps, forward rolls, stuck in the mud, games where they must push each other out of an areas but aren’t allowed stand up, or they must crawl and climb up a belt I’m dragging along the ground and grab my ankle so I fall over as I’m walking backwards
Name corners eg:hear, there, over there, everywhere and get them to run to the one you call out, if they get it wrong they do a few reps of a solo drill
But my favourite is find a blue belt!

I don’t do a game before the kids class but for the last 5 minutes “If” they have earned it by paying attention as a team in class.
Usually listening games like Simon says.
Agility games like red light green light but while hopping on one leg. Sharks and minnows. Dodge ball.
Belt tag.
Teamwork games like relay races but with rolls or hip escapes.
Balance games like “sumo squats” where each student in paired up and get in a duck walk (sumo) position with their palms out in a “patty cake” fashion. They can push each other’s palm until one kid touches any part of themselves on the mats except the bottom of their feet. Can also play that if they fall back wards they must either back break fall or back roll.
Many many more.

We play games at the end of class as a reward.
We most often play a game called "bears versus crabs." It's a kind of tag where everyone is bear walking and one kid is the crab (crab-walking.) If the crab tags you, you are a crab as well. Go until everyone is a crab.
We also do tug of war, and one called "rats and rabbits." It's a racing game where half the kids are rats and the other half are rabbits. Rats and rabbits sit back to back to start. Each team has a goal at either end of the mats. If I call "rats" the rats have to make it to the goal without being tagged by the rabbits and vice versa. It is fun because you can fake them out with "raaaaaa...tatoui!!" etc etc

Sprawl Ball, Sock sparring, Sumo, Red Light Green Light with Jiu Jitsu. Slowly overtime I have convinced my students that sparring IS the game. Ideally I would have 3 to 4 days with no game and the fifth day or final day of the week would be a "game day" with all sorts of grappling related games and fun exercises.
