At least it's December and we might do a little bit of catching up this month, as per tradition :D

I would’ve expected to see a decrease in belt promotions as gyms have been having to close down temporarily and even permanently all around the globe. However, I didn’t expect to see dips of around 50% in promotions. Definitely Jiu Jitsu being such a close-contact practice has been greatly impacted in this pandemic. I hope that we can see these numbers normalize in 2021.

I know a good amount of folks who just haven't updated their profiles in a while, so maybe those numbers will catch up to some degree, but I can't imagine it will get close to 2019. We've also done fewer promotions at our gym the last couple years.

The pandemic is not what has delayed mine, that would be on my shoulders. Having a falling out with my previous team and coach, switching affiliations, and generally not winning Worlds, has slowed my progress a bit.

I know my progress always slows on those rare occasions when I don't win worlds...

It has been a while since I dont win worlds too.
