Hey everyone, I run a studio in Fl, USA. I was recently approached by a parent wanting to get started after watching his kids really enjoy the classes however he was wondering about family rates at your gym. Do they offer any discount? A cascading deal "the more you sign up the cheaper it gets". Or maybe some sort of blanket discount after a certain amount of family members sign up.

I dont want to take anyone for a ride financially and I also want to make sure the gym is compensated fairly. Looking for some insight from the community if you have any to provide.

Thanks for reading =)

At my old gym that I was part owner at, we didn't do that. Each price was each price and we had quite a few families. The idea being fair value is fair value and families wouldn't be able to compare rates etc. if we gave discounts to sow discontent etc.

At my new gym when I just teach and train, the owner does do family discounts but we are a family gym where kid's classes run same time as adults classes, so this works for how the school is.

There are no hard and fast rules, but the one thing I can attest to is "value perceived is value achieved"...

I started with family plans, but took them away. I don't think I got more families because of it, so I was just discounting myself.

This is kind of the position I find myself in as well. I tell everyone that I have the lowest prices I can afford to achieve the goals I set out when opening the gym.
