Hey guys,
I’m new here, but I see it as a grand opportunity to share knowledge and our mutual love and respect for BJJ.
I have an issue I haven’t encountered yet in all my years of teaching. I have some new students who are larger heavyweights and we cannot find Gi’s that fit them. They certainly are not the largest men I’ve seen doing Jiu Jitsu. A4 and A5 gi tops fit them, but it seems to be the pants. The thighs. It’s so odd to me as I’ve had their size person before I’m sure of it. It’s just a body composition thing for these guys I guess.
Anyway, I work with a few vendors for gi’s and have ordered the largest sizes they make with no success. I’ve succumbed to having them just wear their tops and belts to class for now until I can get this sorted out.
Has anyone had this sizing issue with larger heavyweights and what gi were you able to get for them to wear comfortably to train? Any suggestions are welcome.

Fuji is what I get fro my students and we have had zero issues. One I did have to put into a Judo Gi, but they are quite a bit looser for the larger people.

I was a bigger person when I started, and Fuji and Datsusara both had Gis that fit me. As Jon said, you may have to go with a judging as they have a loose fit.

Tatami does an A6 in some styles.
Might need to hot wash the jackets to get a better fit.
