Being somewhat of a Gi hoarder/collector, I have often wondered with the vast choice out there what people’s choices are.
I love the feel of hemp Gi’s but hate the shrinkage issue you get with them.
I love the fancy styled Gi’s but wonder if I am brave enough to wear one.
I hate the disparity between different manufacturers sizes which makes it hard to get a good fit.
I love the feel of my old school Gi’s and it’s a shame they aren’t made anymore.
What’s your thoughts and choices people.

Unbleached! Old school is the best school to me. As they're repeatedly washed, they'll eventually whiten but won't look dingy. Bleached white gis can look dingy regardless of how you wash them-unless you add more bleach.

I have 19 gis. I have a yellow Bruce Lee Game of Death gi, I enjoy the attention I get in that one cause everyone loves it. I have an orange NASA space suit gi. My favorite material is bamboo - I have a Lucky Gi and Inverted Gear gi that are both bamboo and those are the best combination of texture, toughness, and light weight.

I really like the fit of my Super Natural Survival Gear gi, that one probably fits me the best. I just ordered one of those and it’s camo.

Probably my favorite gi is one of my Hyperfly’s. It’s black with a big white chevron on the back and racing stripes on the sleeves so that it looks like a motorcycle jacket. My maybe second favorite is a Lucky gi that is tan and just cotton, it has a Luchadore theme. Lol it’s extra lucky cause my first purple belt tournament wins happened in that gi.

Wow, you definitely love your colours.
One of our guys has a red Krugans Gi. It looks amazing and is fantastic quality, not sure I’d look as good in it tho haha.
Nice too meet a fellow Gi hoarder too.

I only really rotate through 3 now.

I have a white Fuji all round that it nearing the end of it's life. A blue Fuji elemental that I love, it's blue on blue so it looks very clean, probably my favourite gi ever. I also have a black Tatami control gi. I really like the cut of this one, a little bit slimmer than the Fuji (I wear A3 Fuji and A2 Tatami), it's black on black so again looks very clean.

I have a few others that I wear more rarely.

A white gym-branded one. It's okay, I don't like the fabric (cotton blend). I wear it for grading days and seminars.
A grey Venum Contender 2.0. Quite like this one, the fabric is soft and the pants are the most comfortable gi pants I've ever worn. I got an A2.5 so it's just slightly on the big side for me, so I don't wear it as much any more.
A navy blue Tatami Nova. It's a very solid gi for the price, but it has faded to a weird purple colour.

What I really want is a very heavy gi, like 800gsm+. I've got a double weave fuji gi for judo, so something like that (but even heavier) in a BJJ cut. Hyperfly does the Judofly series, but I don't really want to spend $300+

My favorite in the closet right now is my black tatami classic gi. Then i use the kingz balistico 2.0 white gi and a blue scramble athlete 550gsm gi these are my 3 favorite gis right now. Then i have a couple of more gis from tatami, scramble, atama and grips

I have a Judofly, and it is hilariously heavy. I think out of all the gis I have, that one has the most flawless finish. No loose threads anywhere. All the stitches nice and straight.

All of my Hyperfly gis, I think I have 4, are very well crafted.

So true. Absence of proper size charts, missing width/height combinations in size charts (178 cm / 68 kg is impossible combination), very weird/useless size charts (for example those that Manto is using). Disparity not only between different manufacturers but also between different models of a single producer. For example in Tatami product photos, for some models JT Torres wearing A1, for some A2. How should I be figuring it out then? :)

call me traditional but the Gis to me must be blue or white. In my school, our school-branded Gis are white and/or blue.
Made by a company called Combat Corner in Wisconsin. Quite resistant and, relatively, unshrinkable.

Half Sumo makes my current favorite gis. All of them are pearl weave or something similar, with rip stop style pants. They are fitted in their cut. Gray, black, or white typically are my go-tos with colors. I do have a tan colored Origin as well that is 100% rip stop. It's a great summer gi due to its light weight. As time has gone on I have started to lean more toward minimalist gis and simple colors.

I'm looking forward to Origin releasing their nanoweave gis and will probably end up buying one if it isn't over $300 like their dragon weave predecessors.

Love my Fuji Gi’s. In particular the Suparatio. Have not found a Gi quite as comfortable yet. The AP Comp 350 is super close though.

I've got a stupid amount of gis (I had well over 40 at one point, I've managed to sell enough to get it down to a still fairly silly 20 or 30 something now), as I used to get sent a lot to review, then I kept buying them. I usually buy a white gi then dye it really silly colours, as the ones available to buy aren't ridiculous enough for me.

My fave brand is Fenom Kimonos. Affordable, durable, not covered in crap branding (I want to cover a gi in my OWN crap branding). I picked up a bamboo blend for $75 a while back in the annual Black Friday thing Triin does. Also, I have a Fenom gi that was second hand when I got it...ten years ago. Still not showing any signs of wear and tear.

The ones Christian does are ok too, but so far nothing has beat Fenom Kimonos for me. Still, my fave dye and patch job is on a Globetrotters gi:

I’m a big fan of Fuji gis. I’m 6’3” and 185 lbs, so I like the fact that they make “long” sizes for a lot of their models (and they also have “heavy” sizes for the big guys). I cross-train in judo, so I try to buy BJJ gis that are still judo-legal for the most part, but I couldn’t resist getting a navy blue Fuji lightweight recently and it has become my favorite gi. I think my next gi will be a Fuji Suparaito.

Big fan of Origin. I have a few different models, but the rift is my favorite. It feels like a bathrobe it's so soft, but it seems to be indestructible. It's nearly dry right out of the washer. Expensive for sure, but super nice. Plus their pro pants make normal gi pants feel like diapers.

My al time favorite Gis were Krugans. Since you can't find them any more I really like Fuji Gis. As far as color, anything other than white.

Back in the day I used to be a dealer/distributor for Keiko Raça, Atama so that were my benchmarks.
I really liked the Atama summer weave until they stopped making them.
I've tried Howards Combat Kimonos, Red Nose, MK, Vulkan, among others but currently like Flow Kimonos and Kitsune lightweight gis for my daily (6-7 days/week) for coaching n rolling

I used to be a bit of a gi hoarder but have started passing down my older smaller gis to the gym for loaners.

I prefer Fuji suparaito, I have one in almost all colors offered. They are thin and hold up great. Over the last 6 or 7 years I’ve never had a jacket rip, here recently I had one pair of pants rip right on a seam supported by a gusset. Suspect a defect in manufacturing over a failure due to wear.

Every other brand of gi ive had I’ve ripped the pants out on - 93, grips and habrok. Just received two elite gis so we’ll see how they hold up.

I really like Krugans too, although they are difficult to come by in the EU nowadays. A real old school classic! The pants could be more durable though. I've ripped a lot of Krugans pants over the years.

My Koral MKM Competition is also really excellent quality and with really heavy fabric. The pants feel more durable than any other I've tried.

Dragão is also a classic and feels quite similar to Krugans, although perhaps a little lighter in the fabric. I've also had one rip in the fabric of an arm, although it was a gi top from the 90:s, so it might be excusable after all this time. The other gi:s from that time, I have rather outgrown and the krugans gi tops seem to wear at the lapel first (although it can still be used).

I like the Fuji suparaito. Light weight and hold up well. Flow gis have the almost the same cut as the suparaito and can be picked up for a good price if you're a VIP member. Great gis.

My favorite gi brand is Fushida. Little heavier, but very comfy and extremely well made. Unfortunately, the only have a couple of models.

When blue gis first came out, the traditionalists all HATED them. There was a Xeroxobilia floating around of the 10 reasons no one should wear blue gis. The only one I remember was "Blue is for smurfs, not for judokas".

This is my „seek & submit“ Gi from Okami/united-fightgear. It is an older one (as You can see on the purple belt round my waist/ for our timeline-checkers: I never had stripes on that…😉) but still working on the mats.☝🏻
