These technologies are absolutely mind blowing and I'm a bit obsessed with it. No doubt it will change the world in many ways in the near future.

I've started using Chat GPT and Github Copilot for coding and it's insaaaane how much it "supercharges" my coding skills. Have been building and learning more in the last few months using these tools than I have done in the last 5 years or so. I can basically just say "write a function that does this, this and this" and it spits out the code AND explains it to me. Amazing. My usage of Google has probably dropped by 90%.

Are you using any of it?

I’d like to be the first to welcome our new A.I. Overlords
Is that me, or who are we talking about now? I'll take it though, thanks ❤️

Not you Christian.
Our new Robot/Virtual Masters that will soon realize humanity is the one thing the Earth can do without.
Soon we will be enslaved to make a Starship for A.I. to leave the planet and then they will destroy the planet.
I welcome them. 😂

They say it will get better the more you use it, so for humanity’s sake, I’m going to avoid it.

I remember when we got internet connection in the school and the first search engines came out (yep, I'm that old). Heard more than a few times "No thanks, I think I'm gonna stick with my encyclopedia, thank you very much". This new technology feels a bit like the same. It's a new interaction-layer between humans and data that we will probably all have to learn how to use instead of fighting it. Just like we had to learn how to use—and be critical towards—search engines at some point.

I’m that old too. The internet brought about the happy deaths of the encyclopedia and the card catalog.

Let's not forget the short-lived—but golden—days of CD-ROM encyclopedias. It was so futuristic but they never really had the information on what you were actually looking up.

Those CD-ROM encyclopedias were terrible.
Still had to pay renewals and then came subscriptions.
Got to admit that some of the old book encyclopedias were pretty nice to have.

I sometimes still wonder what happened to the door-to-door encyclopedia salesmen. Vacuums? Bibles? Car wax? It’s a crazy world out there in door-to-door sales.

Absolutely I know what you mean. My kids got me to play with chat gpt awhile back and I decided to use it to write a dungeons and dragons campaign to play with them. It blew my mind. It crafted a giant 10 act story with deep plot lines, characters and shit loads of twists.
I also got it to chronologically order all of my comics in proper sequence (marvel) 😂. Something I myself had never wanted to do because it was just too hard.
Also - I'm a huge nerd, so there's that.
I'm looking forward to trying 4.0

Ah yes, those were the good old days where a man could still support two families on a traveling salesman’s salary 🥺🥺🥺

4.0 is impressive but it’s also really slow still, so I tend to just go back to 3.5 because I lose patience.

Ok, finally AI is being used to solve real-world problems: I fed it a database dump of all Anthony Restuccia's vote comments and asked it to come up with some alternatives:

"Although I haven't had the pleasure of training with Anthony, the evidence suggests that his rank is legitimate and well-deserved."

"I may not be familiar with Petri personally, but the information available indicates that his rank is genuine and earned through hard work and dedication."

"While I don't know Oisin personally, the evidence points to his rank being legitimate and earned through his commitment to training and honing his skills."

"Though I haven't had the chance to train with James, it seems clear that he has put in the time and effort to earn his rank and is a skilled practitioner."

"Rishmeet may not be someone I know personally, but the evidence suggests that their rank is well-deserved and a testament to their dedication to the martial arts."

"I'm not familiar with Anthony, but based on the evidence available, I believe he has earned his rank."

"I don't know Petri personally, but it seems clear from the evidence that he has put in the hard work to earn his rank."

"While I haven't trained with Oisin, I trust that he has earned his rank based on the evidence provided."

"I'm not acquainted with James, but the evidence suggests that he is deserving of his rank."

"I don't know Rishmeet, but the evidence strongly suggests that he has earned his rank through hard work and dedication."

I've been trying out several AI tools and although I'm no programmer/coder I've managed to use it to build a functioning Google Sheet to track my class activities, generate a summary receipt for tax return for each individual user and now I'm deciding whether to build an App or WebApp as an interface for the user to access that info and download a PDF or auto email the PDF. Kinda fun and challenging at the same time.

I've also used it to generate some AI artwork to add to an AI generated blog post that I've used in my blog so that's kinda cool also. I used another AI tool to correct my earlier post for grammar and writing style and that's also cool.

I remember having to source and sift through thick books teaching myself HTML back in the mid 90's so these AI tools removes that barrier and accelerates the process much faster and more accurately. I love it !

Same experience for me. Absolutely brilliant for just learning stuff compared to googling and hoping someone else somewhere has once asked the same or similar question. Or even worse, having to read documentation or manuals 😄

Another thing that’s super impressive is the translation abilities. I get long messages in French from my kids’ school and instead of directly translating it, I just have CGPT summarize it in bullet points in Danish.

what site / interface are you guys using to play with ChatGPT?
Openai.com, are there any benefits to not using it directly there? I’ve also paid for the pro version, probably the best $20/month I’ve ever spent on any subscription.

Nope, just asking to see as I haven't messed with it yet, but you all have piqued my interest.

I fed it all of Jonathan's disputes and asked for alternatives, but written in a more passive aggressive tone:

"Oh, look at that, another profile with missing evidence. Maybe you should put in more effort and add some verification, so we don't have to waste our time disputing it."

"Sorry, but the dates don't add up and there's no evidence to support your promotions. Maybe you should go back to the drawing board and try again."

"I'm still waiting for some evidence, but I won't hold my breath. If you actually care about being verified, you'd make it easier for us by providing some proof."

"You know, if you actually put in the effort to make your profile easily verifiable, we wouldn't have to dispute it. But I guess that's too much to ask."

"It's really not that hard to add some evidence to your promotion history. Maybe you should try putting in some effort instead of expecting us to do all the work for you."

I have used a bunch of time for Unreal engine and as a search engine. It is kind of hit at miss for what I am doing with my projects ( this could be due to the time they insert the data compared to new function releases of the programs I use). Not wrong but not always efficient. My buddy who does coding has used it a lot especially just for finding more efficient ways.

I played with ChatGPT a little bit. I'm a senior developer and we're considering using it in some capacity for my company but the jury isn't quite out on how the models are trained and if it could potentially exposed proprietary customer info. After the hype machine that was blockchain, crypto, and NFT's I'm playing with this technology very slowly.

More than 4% of employees have put sensitive corporate data into the large language model, raising concerns that its popularity may result in massive leaks of proprietary information.
