Thank you for your ambassadorship and service to veterans!

I was awarded a We Defy scholarship years ago and I sent my (fmr) platoon Sgt, Master Sergeant (retired) USMC double amputee to them, and I believe he was also awarded a scholarship! We Defy is a great organization to help vets who are struggling or want to belong to a community again. What a beautiful gift of facilitating the mentorship of Jiu-jitsu, they give!

I’m an ambassador and it can be a struggle getting anyone to start Jiu Jitsu. Finding someone willing with an 80% or higher combat related disability is a whole other ballgame.

It is, but we are out there. I’m 100% va disabled and that is one of the biggest reasons I believe in this endeavor. I want to be there to help, when that small percentage comes around looking.

This program is awesome, I had a my scholarship couple years ago and than covid hit....after all that crap was over I was able to finish it off. I had thought about trying to be an ambassador but I was too busy with life.

Now would you happen to know of why the scholarships are only for 80% or higher veterans??

I've met some vets that are not that high in percentage but definitely need some jiu-jitsu ass whipping in their lives.

I just became the Maryland coordinator but it’s something that I’ll ask for you. It’s definitely a good question.

Someone from WeDefy came through our school (Scott Devine's in Brunswick) earlier in the year but I did not get to meet or train with them. Mat, was that you, by chance? I'm still hoping that Scott will get his association affiliated with your awesome efforts.

Awesome program for the vets, trying to get my school affiliated. One obstacle, I'm a brown Belt school owner lol.
Who is the Blackbelt that sponsors you? Do you have one? If not, hit me up. [email protected]

I am an ambassador and athlete mentor for We Defy as well. I am in the Greater Tampa area. I am also affiliated with a veterans non-profit in the area that gives help to veterans called SOF Missions. They have invited me to speak at the last 3 clinics allowing me to share We Defy with the disabled veterans that are attending the clinics.

Are you Going to the Gala?

Does anyone know if there is a similar organization or group in Canada?
I don't think so, but you could talk to We Defy and apply for a location in Canada. see what they say
