I’m curious how many couples train together. My wife and I not only do, but we are the same rank and work curriculum/technique together every class. The only time we don’t is the classes I teach fundamentals but she never misses my class.

Bonus question: When yall have been arguing or mad at each other, don’t still train and roll when you are? Does it help?

My wife and I train and run our gym together. I had been training for about 13 years or so and my wife was NOT into it at the time but she was always really awesome letting me train all the time so she could watch Gilmore Girls or some shit.

Eventually we open a gym and I told her it's wack to own a gym, interact with customers and not train at all. So she's been training almost 9 years now and just got on the podium at PANs a couple days ago, so she's come a long way.

To answer the bonus question: we do NOT train together when we're arguing... not that that ever happens of course.

That’s awesome! Congratulations to your wife at Pans.

We do. When we started we didn't, but as my body started falling apart we started so I wasn't robbing some random person of training time and it ended up working out for both of us. I always had a smaller partner that didn't cause me too many problems with movement and she trained with a much larger partner which helper her in competition.

My wife and I train together and run a Jiu Jitsu program at our Judo club. We got black belt within a year of one another. Now that we are coaching together, it is more rolling than drilling with one another, and hoping for odd numbers when the other is teaching so we can jump in!

My wife and I met in a martial arts class back in 1997. We have been training together ever since. She had to be away from training for over a decade while she was recovering from cancer treatment, but she was able to start doing BJJ again recently. I wish that I was half as tough as her.

Wow man. I know I don’t know either of you but congrats to your wife over the fight and being able to keep training. Incredible.

Thanks, Ken! Our 17-year-old son also trains with us… who now outweighs me by 20 pounds. :)

Man. You’re not alone. My boy started when he was 10. Now at 19, I don’t make eye contact on the mats but somehow he still ends up stalking me. 😂

My wife and I train. Our kids (the ones that are old enough) train as well. I don't think I would roll with any one who I was angry with though.

Wife and I wanted to try training as an active thing we could maybe do together. 15 years later we’re still not sure if it’s the thing we want to keep doing together.

J/K it’s great to have someone to talk to after class about all the stuff you each felt like you did right and wrong during rolls.

My wife is Puerto Rican, and carries a knife.

I'd get cut....

And have a flip flop red marks on my forehead and both sides of my face.

I understood at “Puerto Rican” 🔥

Having a chonkla to each side of the face just tells me you didn’t run fast enough to get it in the back of the head. 😂
