Hi there, I'm one of the schmucks browsing through new profiles like the FSB.

Glad you found this site.

Please make sure you provide an accurate promotion history for ALL your belts. ESPECIALLY if you're a black belt.
If you've skipped a belt, put that in the comments. I also urge you to add PHOTOGRAPHS of your belt promotion, if available.

Also, cold calling / DM-sliding people you've never met to ask for rank validation is a bit silly.

Carry on!

I always wondered why people take photos with instructors and in seminars with a "guru". Now I know!
It to prove that you have "visited" a site or like here experienced a step forward in your belt ranking.

Next time I'll try to remember - or I'll try to search for images other have posted from the event...

Daniel,
I concur. I've been receiving a few cold call type request for verification from people I have never heard of on this page. I have found this odd.

Hi Daniel,

I don't think there is any point in uploading pictures for most of us, since there are simply not enough verified people from Brazil and US (largest BJJ markets) on this site for people to get verified.

Oleg Ryaboy,

Give it a try anyway.

This is an interesting experiment.

Playing the game allows us to see how it unfolds.

If nobody plays, you are right, there is guaranteed to be no movement.

But, sometimes a little optimism allows for fascinating things to evolve and bootstrap themselves.

Oleg. The best thing is that you always have the option to withdraw your vote, and torpedo a profile that turns out to be incorrect.
Give it a shot. I think this whole thing has potential.

Oleg, it’s been three days. If everyone gives up this early then it will never work. Put in an effort and help the site grow. But don’t give up after three days, that’s just lazy.

Hi William, Daniël, Christian,

Certainly willing to give it a try, but perhaps I am missing something... If no one I know has been verified, my profile can't be verified until that changes, correct? And if so... there is really no point in me doing more until that changes, correct? Or is there a point in creating a profile even if it can't be verified all the way?

Guilty of "Cold calling" on here as want to get my name out and have ppl check out my profile. Daniel hit me up and very nicely explained it to me, and i completely understand. I know it's a new system and will take time, just reaching out to people and introducing myself.

i think its okay after a few days. especially from people who promis me back rubs. You dont get what you dont ask for. And if youre legit, i will check out the pics and competitions.

p.s. i will remove this post if I suddenly get 50 dudes promising me back rubs

Strangers are hitting me up to try and get me to verify them, but I cant even verify yet as I am not verified myself...

It is going to be awhile till I get verified too because nobody outside my gym knows me so they have no reason to vote for me with first hand knowledge.

Am I the only one who wonder why people I've never met, whose coach/trainer/school I never heard before, are asking me daily to verify their belt? Beside the fact that I believe acting like that automatically raises suspiciousness?

Francesco, it is natural, if they want to participate, but none of their colleagues or associates are on here yet.

This is a community verification site, so our very presence here signals that we too, are willing to participate.

In those cases, perhaps ironically, I attempt to verify if they are IBJJF certified, or have IBJJF rank membership cards.

Failing that, if their instructor is of the correct IBJJF rank to promote, or is known to me, I contact their instructor,

or set up a three way chat with their instructor, and directly ask their instructor if they vouch for them as their student of that rank.

It's actually turned out to be a bit of work, but then again, in my view doing community service related to such things comes with the rank.

The higher the rank we have, the more community service we should expect ourselves to do because of the extra "degrees" on our black belt.

Anyway, that is my take.

I'm willing to offer back rubs to get some verification loving down in NZ.

Guess it will come organically but sometimes you get impatient
