My first BJJ kimono was MKimonos Arona (used to be my favourite fighter) collab... Awesome gi... Still going (too small for me obv, I passed it on).

I was recently sponsored by Respectsportswear and they have sent me their 'Tiger' Gi.
It's AWESOME. I have spent upwards of $300 NZD on Gi's but this is easily the nicest one I have now.
They're only $190 with free delivery in NZ and international purchases over $135 are free delivery also.
Super cool company sponsoring practitioners and coaches/ instructors, not just competitors.
https://www.respectsports[...]o.nz/shop/

If you like you're all welcome to use the discount code I've been given to save 10% on things not already on sale.
Code: Krocbjj

The more I Wright the more this sounds like a pitch... Not my intention it's just awesome gear.

Full disclosure, I get something out of you using the code above but not anything that's going to pay my mortgage.

Also check out my good friend and one of my North Island coaches Travis Browne, he applied for the coaches sponsorship after I told him about it and got selected also!
It's a great company with awesome values and I'd like it to do well.
Feel free to delete this if it violates something but I thought it helps out my sponsor and gives everyone a better deal.

Cheers Whanau (family)
(I'm also a big fan of the Tatami Gi's but don't tell Respect I said that) ')

Looks like that Mizuno gi is not available in Canada
Most Japanese brands are hard to get your hands on unless you are in Japan or find a 2ndary seller or sometimes via Rakuten (their version of Amazon). I've been to Isami Tokyo a couple of times but they don't carry Mizuno and the local Mizuno outlets only have their Judo gi. Never seen this unicorn so was curious

I used to have the Mizuno Conquest back in the day and it was badass. Jorgen: I used to love my MKimonos Hybrid gi. It was like wearing pajamas. That company seems to have vanished once they went overeas.
Had a couple of MKimonos back in the day and their summer weave were like thick PJs. Too bad they discontinued..

Respectsportswear is a NZ company so it would make sense to sponsor local NZ coaches/teams. Are the gi's made in Pakistan?

I like my Shoyorolls now, but I was a big fan of Origin Gi's from Maine USA. But their order and then manufacture approach annoyed me too much after long waiting periods on the gi's.
I didn’t get what I wanted too from origin and the jacket got looser and wider which sux. But the pro pants rule. Best pants ever. Ordered two and Love them so much

NZL makes some of my favourite gis, specifically the GIMONO. Love that for travelling, though the downside is the collars are like razorblades. Definitely my most unusual gi, it's a merino wool/polyester blend. :D

I used to love Tatami gis, the original gold weave and the first Estilo were my favourites followed by the first Zero G they did but I’m not so keen on their gis now, they just don’t seem the same cut.
I’ve been wearing Kingz a lot more lately, the nano and the one are a great fit after slight shrinkage At A2, I’m 5’9” and 76kg ish.

My favourite gi though is my navy, Fuji AllAround gi.

I have 2 of these Gi's, they are the ones I paid the least for and they are the most comfy still. The Navy was my first Gi ever, it turned purple pretty quick but so comfy... If you like these the closest I've been able to find is the Tatami Nova Minimo as far as comfort.

Hemp gis straight from down under https://leafware.com.au/ . Overall Australia has some really cool small gi brands I was not aware of before coming here :) . In America is a cool one https://fortythievesclothing.com/, that gi lasted forever. Pants ripped with heavy usage in 3 years. I do not know but gi pants get ripped and jackets get holes.
Cool, I've not heard of Leafware before! I have several hemp gis (Datsusara, Flow, The Green Gi), so it would be interesting to compare them to Leafware's offering. Have you got one?

https://leafware.com.au/c[...]ural-white

Judging by the pic, the cut looks tighter than Datsusara gis I have, which is appealing. Is that $219 in Australian dollars, or US? If Aus, that's around £120 (not bad for hemp), but if it's US, it's £180 (not quite so affordable, though still fairly standard price for hemp gis). :D

I'm planning to go to Australia again at some point in the future (no idea when, but hopefully in the next 3 or 4 years), so could pick one up while I'm there.

I've had a fair few gis over the years. Tatami, Scramble, Valor, Kingz and Storm have all made an appearance at some point or another.
I'll be diplomatic and leave out my least favourite gi!

Currently, I love my Kingz Nano gis. They fit really bloody well.

Favourite gis ever though, were my purple Estilo by Tatami and my green Valor Bravura.
Both were gifts, and both have since perished due to mat time.

I have that one, but this is my first hemp gi so I do not know how to compare :). I think it is aud.

I have had Koral, HCK, Padilla and Sons, 2 x Lucky gis, Hyperfly (Judofly) and most recently Submission Sniper (Brucie).

Koral... Eventually shrunk too much for me and I gave it away. Now it has turned silver (was black) but still going strong.

HCK... indestructible but also very rough and a poor cut for me personally.

Padilla and Sons... single weave and still in good shape, but I don't like the pants and the cut is funny for me.

Lucky.... great bamboo gis and great fit for me. Amazing customer service. One has shrunk too much in the trousers now and its jacket ripped after a few years of hard wear, but stitched it up and it has been fine since!

Hyperfly Judofly... trousers ripped within a few months, got offered 15% off my next purchase, not buying anything from them again.

Submission Sniper... very high quality gi for the money, wow. Great fit for me too (Braulio cut). New favourite :)) expecting it to last well.

Like Matthew, over the years I've tried :

MKimonos (I think it was my first ever BJJ gi) baggy fit
Keiko Raça (I used to be their distributor) inconsistent fit
Atama - have their single weave and summer weave
Red Nose - shrank too much and gave it away
Gameness (I used to be their distributor) single weave - one of my favourite fit/brands
Shoyoroll - shrank and pants ripped after a year but now also have the Comp Standard but its kinda baggy on me
Howards Combat Kimonos - Single weave was way too baggy and thick for my preference
Illest - It's pretty good but pants shrank lengthwise
Tatami - It's pretty good but pants shrank lengthwise
Padilla & Sons - sold it within 1 week of receiving it as it didn't fit me right
Vulkan summer weave - ill fitting gi and they shrank a lot back in the day
Flow Kimonos - was gifted their Alpine (lighweight travel range) and they are really nice and light. I wear these regularly
I'm sure I missed a couple of brands along the way...

I've also tried (back in the early 2000's) China and Taiwan made no name gi. Didn't last or tore quickly and ended up making my own gi (mostly for my team) out of frustration with Pakistan and China manufacturers over the past 11 years or so but I'm always on the lookout for something that fits my needs for quality vs price

In addition to regular single, gold and etc. weaves, I made some bamboo weave gi, and found they initially shed a lot, with the fibres ending up in my eyes, nose, mouth (everywhere) and when sweaty the jacket stretched and they eventually shrank but I made cotton drill/bamboo blend pants which were great and bulletproof. Some team members loved these as they were lightweight and tough and still in use after 3 years with little sign of wear.

I've become a fan of the Sanabul Essentials gi's. Cheap, durable and haven't fallen apart yet. More importantly, they're cut long in the sleeves (maybe too much) and long in the pants so they fit my 6'4" ass pretty well.

Just received a Globetrotter Gi today. (Royal Blue) Washed and now drying it. Will give it a test run tomorrow. Looks pretty good so far. We'll see how it feels when I move around.
It came with a patch too. I'll use it as a bookmark lol

My Sanabul pants tore not too long ago just above the right knee. Ended up replacing the gi with a Kingz The One, but I'm not 100% sold on its cut.
