Indeed! I've been lucky, I have an 18 year old Blue Belt son. :D Been drilling a ton, and sparring when the Christmas tree didn't eat up a ton of space.
My boys train too but its like pulling teeth to
get them away from their girlfriends on the phone and crap.

Exactly. he's pretty motivated at least 3-4 days a week. After that he tells me he needs to focus on his "other priorities", which are usually girls or his friends & his art and music. But 18 is 18 no matter what or where lol

I took 3 years off for cancer in my late 40's .. I tought I was done with training and was going to die.. I was actually going crazy not being able to train.. When I cam back I was miserable at first as I was slow, rusty and felt like I sucked but within 3 months I was back and loving it
Very happy to see you are better! Bjj is my therapy too!

I feel like I'm going to have to demote myself when I can finally train again. I haven't been able to train in 10 months and there is not even the slightest bit of light at the end of the rainbow. My club follows the covid restrictions to the letter. I have no friends in the club that are part of my social circle, so I haven't had a class since it all started. I was barely a purple to begin with. lol Frustrating...
Yeah i feel you, we just went to another full confinement..
Was without a partner for 5 months. I gave online classes with a dummy. I havent trained with my coach since march, just 3 buddies in a bubble for 2 months in sept and oct ...

I agree with many of the posts on here in the comparison of having an injury and being away. I had a major accident in 2014 with my dominant hand, a few surgeries, 3 pins, bone graft, nerve repair and I was out for the better part of a year, then limited use for at least 6 months. I also came back with only partial use of that hand (talk about learning over again). BUT I never worried about anything, I just kept trying to move forward. I watched videos of matches, when I could I would watch the class and log what was taught. Now during Covid, I did as much as the same as I could, but because we didn't have class, I used the videos I could find and also went back to my notes.
Now we are rolling again, yes I feel rusty as heck, and my injured hand is acting up again, but I compete with nobody but the devil in my mind.

The beautiful thing about bjj is it’ll be there for you when the restrictions lighten up. Ours aren’t quite as strict now as over the summer/fall. Wished out for me as I was dealing with a back injury so looked at the turn of the calendar as a staring line to get going again. In the meantime check out sone knotty too sks to help get your fix and maybe add a couple elements to your game. Plenty of material on YouTube and BJJFanatics. Hope you’re able to get back to training soon!

and there will be consequences
Getting out of ones bed every morning and driving to work ...has possible consequences..good or bad..Cest la Vie... we are all adults and weigh up the costs benefit analysis of training versus not.. we have concluded the possible positives outweigh the possible negative. That is our choice as free thinking adults. We don't need the nanny state to protect us nor anyone else.

To everyone who can't train right now, keep your head up and keep the faith...... I sadly know too many people who have succumb to the Co-Co across the US (and a couple overseas), and while on average, more people recover than not (I had it, got it at a medical center I took my mother to. She's been battling medical issues non Covid related, went in for tests that I drove her to get.... while waiting in the waiting area around a lot of people, I joked "man, somebody's gonna get the Rona up in here"..... 5 days later karma called), my point, while more people recover than not, you don't want to be the one that loses that gambit. Keep doing body motion drills, and if you can find one training partner who is also quarantining to drill with too.... (or attack your wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, kids of any ages daily).
To add levity, you all can also just come to Florida, I mean here people are running around, partying, gathering socially like COVID was a fever dream or something...... Hell people here are running around, partying, and congregating like AIDS and Herpes wasn't a thing... Sweet mercy pray for this place

Life is short, I’d take the risks and just find some training. I would say JJ is just as essential as anything else, it could even save your life one day!

$10k risk....fines are up there with threat of jail time. I've risked it many times before this recent lockdown. Now they aren't playing around anymore. Neighbors and businesses are reporting each other etc. It is a terrible time here.

That’s some real bullshit that the government has weak minded asses snitching on each other for shit that doesn’t pertain to them.
